I just had this outfit replace my central cooling and heating systems. The cost was $350 higher than the other outfit I liked but they were willing to match the cost and I ultimately felt more... comfortable having this one in my home. I got quotes from 4 different companies I found on this site as well as Angies List. The guy from Magic Touch, Rich who was also one of the owners spent way more time checking everything and pointed... out what he found, even took pictures in my attic of all the vents. He was very patient showing me all the different brands and what the differences were. The crew who came out to install the one I chose was on time and professional. They did a good job and cleaned everything up to my satisfaction. The new heat pump is quiet and seems to work very well. I was wondering if I was going to receive the same outstanding treatment I got when I bought a new Trane unit from Magic Touch a few years ago when the unit stopped cooling this weekend or if I was going to get the "we'll be there in a week" routine. To my pleasure I got the same treatment I chose them for in the first place. The service tech arrived about an hour after my call (Saturday) and found the problem was a blown fuse caused by a loose wire. He continued to say although he couldn't be sure, he assumed that wire had always been a little loose and put in a new fuse, repaired the loose wire and handed me a bill with no charge. Very pleasant phone people and service tech, just like the initial salesman and techs who installed it originally. Magic Touch gets my vote because service like this is pretty rare in this day and age!

For years we have had a problem in the heat of summer with two rooms on the West side of our house being WAY hotter than the rest side of the house. We had given up after having multiple companies tell us it was one thing or another, spending hundreds of dollars each time while they all "experimented". We called all the supposed "Best" companies in the valley. We called Magic Touch and didn't even tell them about the history figuring it was a lost cause. After coming down from the attic the serviceman informed us we had a "damper" that was closed that was not supposed to be. Within 30 minutes the temperature difference was obvious. Magic Touch solved the problem nobody else could! I wish I would have called them years ago because they are the real deal and their competition stinks! I will NEVER call anyone else. Based on the high reviews of Magic Touch on Kudzu, I had them come out and give me a quote on a new A/C unit that needed to be replaced due to the hailstorm last year. I also had the company that manufactured my old unit out as well. When they arrived, in less than 5 min I had a barely legible estimate. After calling Magic Touch I had Challen Hansen come out. He was there for over an hour doing a load calculation and gave me an estimate. Challen is an asset to your organization! He answered all my questions and even included the replacement of my 70's era electrostatic filter system in with the price. I had many issues with the insurance company and every time I needed another piece of info to send to them, Challen was there to help. Installation guys were fantastic as well even though it took a little longer that was scheduled. I refer anyone that needs any AC repair to you guys. THANK YOU for a fantastic experience.

While the installation of my new A/C went ok, the bad part about replacing a unit that was not broken, just old, is that the new one has broken twice in 60 days. With it getting hot in AZ I decided to be proactive in replacing an old unit with Magic Touch as being my new provider. In the 2 months I have had it the unit has gone out 2 times. While the techs that come out are nice, this last time they did not get here until 9pm. I now have to worry everyday what will happen at my house with the A/C and my dogs in kennels, since my house got to 99 degrees today.
MrWilson246, First thank you for your business. It means a lot to us and it appears based on your comments and rating on our service you do recognize that we aim to give top notch service. I'm sure you realize that we don't want your equipment to have a problem just as much as you don't want it to. I personally own the same unit you purchased as it's a quality machine...however mechanical equipment can and does fail. We do not manufacture the equipment so all we can do is provide you with quick and efficient service if it does, which I feel we did. Please realize that you're reviewing "Magic Touch" here on Kudzu, not the "equipment manufacturer" so your low star rating on overall and for quality and value reflect on Magic Touch NOT the equipment manufacturer. You have a very dangerous roof (two story with a very steep 6/12 pitch) and the unit sits 2 feet from the edge. The technician told me he was terrified to be up there in the dark and I don't blame him. I've been doing this twenty + years and am a professional skydiver and I don't know if I could've mustered the courage to do it in the dark...it's scary enough in the light. We tell our technicians that their safety comes first and it is their decision (without repercussion) in that situation to choose not to get up there in the dark. Blake got up there anyway (to my dismay) in order to get you cooling. He traveled across town at 9pm to get to you so you had cooling for the night. That's great service in my book! As it turns out part of the problem was fairly dirty filters, semi clogged with dog hair and dander, that were restricting airflow. These filters are not supposed to be used as you have a MERV16 filter in the unit already. Adding more filters only restricts airflow. When Blake arrived he found the unit turned right on and continued to run for 40 minutes without a problem yet he scheduled to return the following day (when it was light) with another tech to make sure there were no wiring issues, etc. as per our promise and commitment to provide our clients with exceptional service. I implore you to separate your feelings about our service and the equipment itself and give us the true overall ratings that service deserves. In hindsight and after three visits it turn s out the problem was not either equipment failure nor an installation problem but rather restricted airflow yet we still provided expedient service at no charge. Please consider the star rating that type of service truly deserves. Again thank you for your business, we look forward to exceeding your expectations the next time you cal on us as well. Magic Touch gave us a quote to replace our upstairs air unit last year. Unfortunately we did not choose them because they wanted $900 more than the company we chose and we thought the two were equal (not). Big mistake. Everything that could go wrong did, there was damage to our walls, ceiling & carpet during installation which they refused to fix, the new unit doesn't cool right (It was bigger than the one Magic Touch said we needed but the other company said they were wrong and we'd be 100% satisfied HA!) after three times out to test it they said there was nothing else they could (would) do. I canít say the other companyís name (yet) because we are currently in litigation trying to get our money back so we can have Magic Touch do it right (mind you 1year later and weíre still fighting this). Last month Magic Touch replaced our downstairs unit. What a difference, night and day! Magic's people were so much more professional than the other company, obviously more prepared and experienced (I think the other companyís workers were laborers or something even though they claim to be the biggest company around) and Magic didnít leave a spec of dust behind. Magic Touch gave us the calculation they used to figure out the right size unit we needed. The other company said they did this but have never produced more than a generic sheet of paper with numbers on it (Magic did it in front of us on a laptop) In hindsight Magic Touch showed us why spending more was worth every penny!
UniqueDesigns4u: I am guilty of letting my eyes be drawn to the sentence that said "big mistake" and thought you were referring to us for a moment. I breathed a sigh of relief upon reading your whole review more closely, LOL. That said, first thank you for your business and for taking the time to post a review of your experience with the Magic Touch Team on Kudzu. I am sorry to hear about your troubles with another company and unfortunately hear this type of thing quite often in recent years. We do our best to explain to people that our pricing is a direct reflection of the cost to do the job right. Usually if there is a wide pricing disparity like that it is not that we are priced too high, its usually a sign the other company is not going to do the same caliber of job we are. We have the reputation we do because we will not take short cuts, omit needed items, use untrained installers, etc. but there is obviously a greater cost in doing the job right. I'm a firm believer in the old adage, you get what you pay for. The first sign should've been the difference in the size of the equipment quoted. If an HVAC Contractor does not take the time to measure your home, doors, windows, etc., inspect the entire attic, insulation, ducting, etc.,(first short-cut) there's no way they're going to get the installation right! Every A/C manufacturer, utility company, even the department of energy state if the contractor does not do a comprehensive load calculation and audit of the home...do not use them. This is the very foundation of a good installation. Unfortunately there are many people in Arizona that aren't getting even close to the efficiency levels they think they are because of improperly sized and installed equipment. You're 100 times better off buying the lowest cost equipment possible and having it installed properly than you are buying top of the line equipment and having it installed incorrectly. Rest assured, we will get your other unit installed the right way when you're ready. You will most certainly be the victor in this case since the other contractor put in the wrong sized system. A load calculation is an exact science so they do not have a leg to stand on. One final note, when you do wrap up your fight with the other company, be sure to share a review on Kudzu on their profile as I'm sure you can save some others from the grief you've been put through. I bought a new high efficient Lennox heat pump and had it installed last week. From the start it was apparent Magic Touch was the best choice. Jim Gibson was far and above more thorough at reviewing every detail of our house than the three other estimators we got quotes from. He checked our ducts, measured the house, did a load size calc, and offered several choices of heat pumps. All the things my careful investigation of having a heat pump installed said to look for. He was also the only one that could test our ducts and check for air leaks and then test again after they were sealed, also recommended by the experts. The install crew Kevin and Chaise worked well together and were mindful of my house, setting up drop-cloths, wiping off walls they touched, and generally showing concern for my property. I noticed they even were careful to quietly move their ladders around while I was on the phone. At the end of the day Rick the install supervisor came and inspected their entire job, made sure I understood how the new digital thermostat worked and how to program it and went over all the work Kevin and Chaise did with me to make sure I was satisfied. Magic Touch was the highest price by $490 but offered things the others didnít and checked things the others didnít. I donít believe I would have been as impressed with the end result of the other companies as I was with Magic Touch and after seeing the project through from beginning to end, Iím sure I got the best quality job.

This was my first time trying a new company and to be honest I was a little nervous. You always hear bad things about ac companies so its hard to know who to trust. I'm happy to report magic touch air conditioning lived up to the a+ they have from the better business bureau and I feel comfortable calling them again and recommending them to my friends. The woman who made my appointment was very helpful and the man who made the repairs was easy going and efficient. The price was much better then the same repair on my other unit from another company last summer. Five stars for magic touch.

Has anyone else noticed how defensive Magic Touch gets when they receive a poor review? Obviously, a poor review either means it's written by a competitor who's trying to sully their otherwise golden reputation, or a misguided malcontent who's a liar. Whatever happened to "the customer is always right?"

BBB response: "Magic Touch submitted ample evidence demonstrating the complaint was unwarranted" Comporsboy, the review I ask if its a competitor not only says another company name it also states Magic Touch installed an Amana. We're not an Amana dealer! ORIGINAL: Comporsboy, The review you posted AFTER speaking with one of the owners of the company is VERY different from what you said on the phone & from the truth. The facts: We arrived on a "unit making noise" call. The tech. made 4 recommendations after completing his diagnosis & BEFORE doing any work. Listed clearly, his recommendations were items priced as follows $92.20, $55.44, $96.43, & $52.81. Per our policy you initialed YES next to EACH recommendation you approved BEFORE repairs were made. The service call charge was waived with repair as promised. You paid the $297 for repairs you approved & signed the invoice which states "THE CHARGES WERE EXPLAINED TO ME AND THE WORK WAS DONE TO MY COMPLETE SATISFACTION". Three weeks later, you called in to report a noise. Another tech. was there same day. In your presence the tech. cycled the unit on and off...no noise. Per your conversation with company owner Michele & the technician...you ACKNOWLEDGED there was no noise while he was present. You were charged a $75 diagnosis fee because there were NO warranty issues, the unit was NOT making noise and was running fine...which you acknowledged. While on the phone with owner, Michele you stated you "agreed that was fair". Michele asked you at that time if you had initialed for the $300 worth of repairs before the work was done which you claimed you were "overcharged" for, you said "yes I was, but I don't care about that, I'm more concerned with the last $75 charge". Sam's invoice WHICH AGAIN YOU SIGNED states "Unable to hear any noise at this time. Ran the unit for 45 minutes" Although you agreed this charge was fair as there was not a warranty issue and there was NO noise when we were present,and you paid the diagnosis fee without hesitation, you later called in to contest paying for a service call you ordered? Michele in the name of excellent customer service went on to offer you the following: "If you hear the noise again we will come out FREE of charge EVEN if there is no noise when we got there".You said "That's fair". Later the same evening you post this unfair and quite frankly untrue review leaving out most of the facts and all of the above conversation that took place.Why would you do that? As you can see I respond to every review we receive. When we do make a mistake, we want to make it right because we are a fair, honest and ethical company as can be seen by the feedback by hundreds of others. Look, we all know that HVAC companies have a horrible reputation for ripping people off. I was loathing having to replace my unit, but I knew it wasn't operating correctly. I set up an appointment for a sales person to come out and provide a quote, and then thought I should give it a shot to see if a repair is possible. I spoke to Robin (ridiculously nice!) and discussed my dilemma, and she sent a tech out within the hour (!) to assess my system. The tech couldn't have been sweeter (Sam). You know - the type of guy who smiles constantly and it's sincere? That's Sam. He diagnosed both my air handler and condenser, and then provided his recommendations. I was provided a written, binding quote on the spot. Turns out, the system, although 20 years old, wasn't in such bad shape after all! Sam said I needed a few replacement parts for things that had broken or were on the fritz, and then he left it to my decision. I asked him opinion, he offered it, but there was no pressure. He was so honest about it, he even offered to show me how he tests the equipment, and what the numbers should be. :) I ended up spending a fraction in repairs versus the cost of a whole new system. Sam/Magic easily could have told me I needed additional parts or a whole new system, but instead, offered me an affordable solution. Thank you, Magic, for having such integrity!

Our heat stopped working and we have an infant so needed it fixed right away. We called a company that put in a new heater across the street from us two weeks ago thinking they were familiar with our type of heat and cooling. They told us it didn't make sense to repair it because it needed about $2000 worth of repairs and we could buy a new one for about $6000. My husband thought it was a good idea to get a second opinion and if the second company agreed to get a cost for a new heater from them too. Good thing we did! When Magic Touch looked at it they said we can fix it for $312. I don't know if the first company was trying to take advantage of us or if Magic Touch is just better at what they do but we now have heat and it cost us $312 not $2000 and not $6000. Magic Touch is the company to trust.

Magic Touch installed a new air conditioning unit for us in 2008 - since then they have been out 5 times for repairs. We told them it wasn't right from the very beginning but they kept telling us nothing was wrong. Our heater went out and they wanted $1500 to fix it. One Hour Air conditioning came out, told us it was under the Amana warranty and fixed it for NOTHING - no service call charge, NOTHING!!! One Hour saved the day. Magic Touch is not so Magic!!

REVIEW DOESN'T ADD UP, ARE YOU A COMPETITOR? ---- Jerri57, I have searched our customer database for both first and last names containing ďJerriĒ from 2006 until today, and have no record of anyone matching the description of either purchasing an Amana from us with an extended warranty nor having five service calls in 2008 on an Amana product (I searched through A LOT of records)? Iíve also contacted Amana to search extended warranties for all of 2008 with any similar names and they also found nothing? The only way another company couldíve have not charged any money towards the labor for a 3 year old unit would be if the customer purchased an extended warranty, which WE purchase from directly from the manufacturer on ALL of our installations and both manufacturer and us can pull up this information very quickly. Without an extended factory warranty, labor would only be covered for one year, and even that requires product registration, which WE also do on behalf of all of our clients. We offer and encourage the factory extended warranty on EVERY new installation as Amana and every other manufacturer pay for both parts and labor in the event of a component failure, and they all pay a higher hourly rate than we charge our clients so your review doesnít add up, especially because we're not an Amana dealer. If Iím incorrect please call me directly as Iím baffled as to how both our system and Amanaís system failed to find an extended warranty contract. As a fail-safe, Amana even requires that to change to another service provider the homeowner call in directly to request the change, and Amana had no record of such a request under ANY name. Something about your review does not add up! Please contact me directly as we pride ourselves on excellent customer service as the hundreds of reviews going back years on Kudzu alone clearly demonstrate. I think our A+ record with the BBB and ROC, Business Ethics Award, etc, etc, speak for themselves as to how we do business and contradict your review title. I wanted to Thank the company and crew at Magic Touch! You guys were all great and yes you Ladies too in the office. I was always kept in touch with while waiting for my appointment, called with reminders of service and when the crew was on their way. Wow , where else can you get service like that these days. I got my new unit installed at the end of the year and am very pleased with it as well. When I bought the home the old unit was not working so I lived with space heaters till I could get an install. They even offered to bring me another heater until they could get my unit installed. Polite, professional people that stand behind what they are and what they sell. you will not be sorry if you use Magic Touch. No other ocmpany actually measured, tested and advised me on the size of a unit. others just offered to replace what was there with the same thing. You can tell that these are certified and educated people doing the job they are trained in not just someones cousin that works for them and is looking only for a paycheck. I had a new unit installed in the summer and everything turned out fantastically. Developed a leak as one of the seals broke in the winter and Magic Touch promptly sent out a tech to fix the leak and a contractor to fix the drywall damage. Great install, and they stood by their work no questions asked - can't top it!

If you want the best, forget the rest. The sales and install staff were personable, professional, and respectful. They value is in the detail, every company that gave us a quote told us how important it was to calculate the cooling and heating needs for the home, but only Magic Touch actually did the calculations before quoting us a price (and the other guys were wrong on their guesses). They were on time, very thorough, and stood by their quote even though an additional part was needed. I would/will use them again without any hesitation. You hit on a real hot button for me in that although all of our competition talks about the importance of performing a load calculation, hardly anyone aside from us takes the time to really do it. We're not concerned with "giving away" the load calculation because it's the ONLY way to do it right. And for the people that use our load calc. to "share" with our competitors, they need to ask themselves what else our competitors are going to NOT do, that will cost them way more money in both the short and long term. We needed a new AC/Heating unit and called this highly-rated company because we were impressed with our consultant, the price was reasonable and the company had a good reputation. Our experience couldnít have been better. From the office staff (Candace and Laura) to our installation consultant (Challen) to the testing technicians (Tom and Jim) and the installation technicians (Enrique and Ryan), the professionalism, efficiency and kindness we experienced from the entire staff was impressive. Challen was always responsive to our needs and ensured the installation was completed properly. This entire staff gave us a thorough, professional and excellent delivery of product and services and they all cared about customer satisfaction more than anything. Anytime I had a question, the office staff made me feel important as a customer. The price, rebates and service contracts offered were explained fully. With a great attitude, they tested our system thoroughly before and after installation to determine leakage. They installed the unit with the utmost care and confidence. Just an incredible group of people making sure we were happy with everything regarding the purchase, installation and satisfaction of the product. With knowledgeable, helpful and courteous people like these, it is no wonder that Magic Touch is regarded as the reputable and excellent company it is.
