Tried to take me for a ride!, 8/02/2013

I brought my husband's Porsche in for a variety of things to be checked. It was going to take 4-6 hours to check everything so I was given a VW loaner….thought it should be a comparable car but... that’s neither here nor there. Approximately 4 hours later I received a phone call with a laundry list of things that "needed" to be fixed. First of all the alternator was quoted at $2400 but an aftermarket could be installed for $1300. I asked if I should come get the car while we waited for the aftermarket part and he stated "no, you’d be stranded if it went out." Other items they said needed attention were: The sunroof needed "cleaning and relubing" at $215. We needed an alignment although it doesn't pull at all for a cost of $250. The oil pressure gauge was "erratic" so it was suggested we replace the sensor (sender?) for $250. There is a screw in the tire that you can't fix because the tire is not "Porsche approved" which places me on the road in an unsafe car. I called my husband to discuss and he got a quote from an import service center for $600 for the alternator (including labor). After dropping off the car we received a phone call from new location. There is NOTHING wrong with our alternator. Do NOT use this company for service….or anything else for that matter!

Great Internet buying experience, 3/20/2013

I was negotiating with several other dealers up and down the east coast on a 2011-2012 911. I actually went with the vehicle at Jim Ellis Porsche that was priced slightly higher -- I felt more... confident in the sales process with Jim Ellis Porsche rather than the others. All in all, my experience with Jim Ellis Porsche was great! The car was delivered as advertised, and Michael McGregor was very responsive before the sale and after delivery. Some outstanding things: 1. I'm living in DC, so I had to fly down to Atlanta to take delivery on the vehicle. A limo was waiting for me at the airport to take me to the dealership. That was outstanding! 2. Once I arrived at the dealership, I was out within an hour. That was outstanding! I've found that other dealers (especially other Porsche dealers for some reason) do not respect my time. Also no last-minute negotiations on pricing or messing around with financing as I've experienced with other dealerships. 3. Follow-up on my State of Virginia license plates is prompt. What could have been better? Nothing, I'll probably purchase my next 911 from your Jim Ellis Porsche!
