Thank you, Shady Grove! With Tina’s ideas and Danny’s know-how my water problems have been solved. They were able to reroute the water coming off the roof and driveway so I no longer have flooding in... the basement. What a relief! It was a pleasure to work with you and your crew.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Tina had wonderful ideas and worked within our budget, and Danny executed perfectly. It was a great experience and we came back several months later with another project.
We were very excited to work with SG, because the project manager (PM) seemed to share our vision. We wanted to fix our backyard drainage problem, after the floods back in 2009. The PM did a site visit and talked about fixing the drainage and hillside. We were going to do the project in 3 stages for financial reasons. We mentioned a concern about making the hill more gradual when the patio was dug up and she (PM) made us feel very comfortable that of course the project would be done the right way. After that initial visit and the contracts signed we never saw the PM again. The team that did the work did not work on the hill side and mentioned that it was going to be a problem for us. Since smoothing the hillside wasn't specifically mentioned in the contract, they wouldn't touch it. Even though the PM verbally assured us that the job wouldn't be done right unless it was. The french drain was also supposed to run from fence to fence, however since the pencil line in the drawing was in the wrong place and we didn't see it they stopped the drain short on one side. Again, this was despite verbal conversations with the PM that the french drain would be from fence to fence. The work done was good quality, however be sure to triple check that EVERYTHING is written in your contract. The steps up to the backyard did not reach the top, and thankfully the contract stated 6-8 steps or they would not have added the final step. Brought children to project site without asking.
Shady Grove is so sorry to read this review! It is always our primary goal to offer complete customer satisfaction and we are incredibly disappointed that this client posted a negative review here instead of calling us and giving us a chance to make it right. We will be searching through our archives for a client named Stacy that had a project done in 2009 and contacting her asap. 8.19.13 Update. Have attempted to contact this client several times with no response. We don't understand why we left this client extremely happy four years ago and even though they say that 'the work done was good quality' they choose to tarnish a hardworking company's reputation. Again, we are sorry to disappoint and are prepared to make things right. 1.27.14 Finally spoke with previous client who insisted that there was nothing more Shady Grove could do to rectify this situation. She said she would use us again in the future for the next phases of her back yard landscape needs, but would thoroughly read the contract next time to make sure her expectations were outlined before the project starts. We heartily agree and we are so glad there are no hard feelings.
Tina and Danny at Shady Grove did a masterful job with our project. They coordinated everything, from design to contractor management (concrete, irrigation, electrical) and the results couldn't be better. We have the best yard on the block and are very grateful for the patience and professionalism of their entire team. I would highly recommend them to friends and family. Well Done!!!
Had them put in a dry creek bed for aesthetic reasons and to hopefully correct a big drainage issue at the same time. They almost solved it the first time, but a heavy rain showed a little remaining drainage problem. They nailed the problem on the second trip out. Creek bed looks great and like it has always been there. Our drainage issue is gone. We WILL use them again as they are the real deal and have a sharp focus on customer service.
Tina is a talented landscape artist who is committed to her clients. Her attention to detail when it comes to landscape design is evident upon completion of her projects. Tina and her crew were professional throughout the transformation of our front yard. THANK YOU!
We greatly enjoyed the opportunity to install this fun, Mediterranean design, front-yard makeover. Thanks so much the the opportunity and your kind words!
Owner brought her large dog for the estimate who ran our & our neighbor's yard unleashed-inappropriate. Nice proposal for half the yard, but she proposed to do nothing with half of yard with significant water/drainage issues. When challenged to consider this, owner proclaimed "Look, I'm an expert." Then stated "Look,I have a family". If you'd rather spend Saturdays with you family, don't scheduled appts. on that day. She then apologized for being unprofessional. I told her she needed to leave. True "experts" don't need to make such proclamations and are humble enough to admit that they don't know everything. Rude...and bad experience. Makes me wonder about some of the other reviews.
Shady Grove is sorry to say that this review reflects the combative nature of this interview. What a horrible experience for everyone! While the majority of this meeting was conducted with Mr. Client, Ms. Client stepped in at the end and persisted in her opinions about her yard. After 10 minutes of a building disagreement, our owner tried to simply agree to disagree and get up to leave. Ms. Client then began verbally abusing and insulting our owner who, regretfully, lost her cool. Raleigh, the dog, goes everywhere with the owner for protection. She always asks permission from perspective clients for his presence which was granted by Mr Client. The dog was never left unsupervised and remained in the truck during the inside interview. Please read our other ninety genuinely good reviews as we believe this review does not reflect the usual Shady Grove Landscape Company experience.
Since 2009, Tina, Danny, and crew have transformed our property in several stages. The first project addressed 1) drainage problems, 2) our need for fast-growing foliage for privacy, and 3) aerate, condition soil, and reseed with fescue. In 2011, our back and side yard needed new French drains and a new stone path. In 2012, we made the big decision to install Zoysia turf and a sprinkler system. For each project, Tina gave us suggestions that fit our taste and our budget. After many projects, we couldn't be happier.
Shady Grove was the best contractor we have ever worked with. Danny & Tina work well together with fabulous ideas & professionalism. Their crew are amazing. The company stands by their work and stayed in communication with us throughout the project. They completed the work in a timely manner. I loved how kind & professional they treated their workers also. Use this company if you want a great job done with unique ideas.
We used Shady Grove for back and side yard landscaping, including some erosion problems. Tina provided us with a creative design after carefully listening to what we wanted. Danny and his crew were completely professional and efficient and were very patient and persistent in dealing with our city's permitting issues. Pricing is comparable to other estimates we obtained. Our yard already looks 100% better and we plan on using them again to complete the job.
The entire process once finding Tina and Danny was very professional. In comparison to some of their competitors I was very satisfied with the experience. During the design phase Tina and the entire team had a very keen interest in making us happy. I was very impressed as to how accommodating the entire team was to help us see our vision come to fruition. As demo and construction started I was very impressed with the care that was taken to protect my home and yard during the project. The team of brick mason's really impressed me as I could tell they take great ride in their work and are truly masters at their trade. I would recommend anyone who is considering a landscape project to meet with Shady Grove Landscape Company and experience their commitment to customer satisfaction first hand.
This project was so fun and rewarding. Creative clients make the process more interesting and lead to the perfect final product. Thanks again for your patronage Marus Family!
Tina spent over an hour with us on our first consultation, giving us ideas for better use and layout of our backyard. It's exactly what we needed. We've executed clean up work in the front and backyards and we look forward to phase 2 of our yard's improvement. SG was professional, thorough and very helpful! We absolutely recommend them to others (we have already), and I look forward to seeing them again.
We interviewed several firms before we found Tina/Danny. They were professional, on time, accommodating to our many changes. We are overwhelmingly pleased with our end results.
I knew Shady Grove would be great when I had a one month wait. it was definitely worth it. My home is beautiful and all my neighbors are envious. Tina was helpful in value adding some items to save us money and the project turned out beautifully. I highly reccommend.
We are very pleased with our new stack stone borders and retaining walls. The Cooks (owners) were very conscientious with helping us determine the best hardscape plan for our yard. A great indication of a wonderful company is its crews. The three man crew was wonderful - polite, accommodating to adjustments if needed, focused and hard-working, despite the unseasonal heat of this 2011 summer. We have received compliments from everybody who has seen our yard. This is the 2nd time we have used Shady Grove Landscaping, and we plan to call them for future work.
We are repeat customers of Shady Grove, and they recently completed another landscape project for us. Our backyard had become quite an eyesore. There were drainage issues, exposed tree roots, and grass was all but non-existent. Tina recommended corrective action, and Danny and his team worked their magic. The drainage problems were corrected, and new sod installed along with a beautiful dry creek bed. Shady Grove transformed our backyard into a beautiful oasis, and we couldn’t be happier. So if you want to work with a knowledgeable, professional landscape company, that is also customer-care oriented, look no further than Shady Grove.
Shady Grove performed on time and delivered an excellent work product. Equally important, their crew made an extra effort to please, by accomodating requests quickly and cleaning up the area each day that they were on the job. We are repeat customers and will be in the future.
My backyard hadn't been touched in the 12 years I've lived in my house. Overgrown and ugly doesn't begin to describe it. I used Kudzu and other sources to find three landscaping contractors to come out and give me bids on re-doing my backyard ...oh, and did I mention it had to be dog friendly? From my first contact with Tina Cook I was enamored with Shady Grove. She and her husband Danny set the bar when it comes to service ... customer service, landscaping service, attention to detail, follow-up, follow-through. They could (and should!!) give lessons to other contractors and service providers on how to do it right. If you are thinking of doing anything to your exterior, you would be remiss if you didn't contact Shady Grove. I absolutely LOVE my new back yard and so do my furry kids!!
