After experiencing a break-in, we decided to have a security system installed and chose Ackerman. Our sales rep, Michael Sorrells, did an excellent job of helping us to decide on the system that was right for us. The install was fast and clean. The installer (wish I could remember his name) went out of his way to make sure we understood how our system worked. Having the ability to check the status of our system via the Total Connect mobile application gave us "peace of mind" when we made our first post break-in out of town trip. Very satisfied!
After 3 bids for a security system it was more than clear to me that Ackerman Security was a perfect fit. The sales rep Bill Holman was very professional, reliable, fun to work with, and quick to respond to all of my questions. I always felt like I was his top priority. First installer was a clown, took 4+ hours and left without it working, didn't seem to know what he was doing and left a mess. He also said he'd come back with a new part to fix it. A week later I had not heard back so I called and the company acted as if the install was complete but scheduled another tech for the next day. 2nd guy was on time and knew the issue or so I thought. As soon as he left, the back door chime keeps going off even though it is shut and locked. Called to schedule a 3rd tech to come get this system installed and working. Was scheduled for 12-4 on 12-27. It's now 3:50 and no word from them. They are done, they can come pick up there junk on the curb and I'll have another company come do the install.

Seemingly this company is only concerned with sales...they DO NOT solve system problems. I've been waiting on the SERVICE manager to call to address ISSUE and its been 3days. Acct#OR4337 12/10/13-Mgr has been in contact..possible solution and happy customer awaits
Alarm signals were recieved, police dispatched, contact list called. System did what it was designed to do. If the decision is made to invest in additional devices we can easily install at your request.
Just had the WORST customer service experience EVER! We had a technician stop by today, and now our system beeps loudly every two minutes. Called customer support three times and they were not only unhelpful, they said they couldn't get another technician out until Thursday. So, I guess we were supposed to endure three days of constant alarm sounds. Spoke to a manager and not once did she apologize for the inconvenience. Her attitude was unacceptable, especially for someone in a service and support role. When we mentioned the possibility of canceling our service, her only response was if we moved forward with that a technician would not come to fix our issue. When we asked her to repeat her full name she hung up on us. Prior to this we really liked Ackerman and even referred our parents. After tonight, we could not recommend Ackerman with full confidence. Very disappointing that we will have to look elsewhere for security services moving forward!
As a service oriented business ourselves, we are especially appreciative of good customer service. Michael Sorrells was our rep who just exceeded all of our expectations. So many times, someone can just make the whole process so difficult, that you want to throw your hands up and walk away. Michael made it easy, pleasant, and, most of all...didn't try to sell us something that we didn't want. I really must also mention Ron Scarlett who did the actual install. Two VERY nice and thoughtful GENTLEMEN who are welcome back anytime. Thank you!!
After having a less than stellar experience with my ex-sales rep; I ask to speak to the sales VP; He called and addressed all my concerns.
I recently switched to Ackerman after "playing out" my 3 year agreement with another provider. I was very pleased with the industry knowledge my sales rep David brought to the table. He immediately made me feel at ease about looking at a new provider for home monitoring. The experience was so good I didn't even consider keeping my old provider, even after the desperately tried to price match (after increasing my rates). I was setup for install within a few days and the Tech Josh was very professional and personable. He made the transition easy and ensured I was satisfied. Warning to Ackerman customers: I have been a customer of theirs since 2007; during that time Iíve paid approximately $1900 to them (they only offered me their advertised $18.95 fee about 4 months ago). Friday, 9/6 my home was broken into. Praise God no one was home. The burglars broke in through a front window. The glass break on the window failed. Ackermanís only response was to offer to charge me (full price) for a technician to come to my house to confirm what we know Ė the equipment failed Ė and to charge me (full price) to replace the faulty device. NOTHING MORE. Ackerman only guarantees equipment THEY installed less than 12 months ago. They informed me their only service is to respond to the signal they receive Ė NOTHING MORE. And Iím sure you Ackerman customers THOUGHT you were paying for more.
While there is understandable frustration associated with having experienced a break in, the facts presented here are not accurate. It would be inappproapriate to discuss the details in this format. Ackerman shows up on time and they do what they say. I have had their service for about a week impressed so far. The installer had a window from 8-10. At 8:01 the installer called and told me he was on the way was here before 9. I have set the alarm off by accident a few times, having to get used to the remembering to turn it off before I go out in the morning. Point being they had called before I had a chance to go and disarm the alarm. At this point I would highly recommend them. I elected to sign a 1 year contract as it saved me some cash on the system. Was not a requirement for me to do so though.
I was very impressed with the professionalism of not only the sales rep who visited my home, but also the technician who installed the system. Their prices are very reasonable and quality excellent.
High pressure sales tactic: "sign the contract now- you have 3 days to cancel!" Of course, now that we've had time to do more research and realize a 3-year contract is a bit much, we've had to send a cancellation notice via courier to get out of the contract. Gave "average" scores to all, as we don't want to be locked into the service for 3 years, so can't say if it's good or bad.
Ackerman does not require a 3 year contract, so apparently there is a misunderstanding. You can lock in the rate if desired by opting for a longer term, but we have never required a 3 year contract.
