POPS Landscaping

They used to do my old house just the yard maintenance and did a fairly good job. I've moved and got some quotes that where high, and decided to do some of the work myself. After that I tried to re-engage them to do the yard work and help me plan out the landscape of the yard, and they set a time to come out and never called or showed. I've tried to give them work several times and they either no show, or are substantially higher than everyone else. I'm done and will begin my search for a new company. It's to bad I like to work local.

No question Dave is a true visionary and brillant at his work. The problem is not Dave's creativity and ability to transform any area into art work. The issue is the nature of landscaping requires customer service. No exaggeration, I must have called their office 20 times requesting they attend to some stonework issues. Finally, after months later we came out. We are planning on installing a pool and while we would love to use him again, it's simply not worth the stress and time of getting the customer service/follow-up needed. What a shame.

This is an update to a previous recommendation. Dave's creations are awesome but after you write the final check things go down hill fast. Don't bother with a Maintenance Agreement. You can pay but they don't show up. If you call for them to service landscape lighting, replace dead or dying plants, you may as well be calling your dead grandmother or just talk to the wall.

Save yourself aggravation, hire someone else for your landscape projects.

Absolutely and without hesitation I'd recommend POPS. Hired them initially to do landscape and design within a tight budget, it came out perfect. Now use them for regular maintenance, lawn, seeding, chemicals and such. Simply thrilled. They truly deserve the Best of Atlanta designation they've recently been awarded.

Disclaimer: This is an updated review (original review gave 5 stars in all areas) to reflect our experience with POPS a year after work completion. We started off with a hill in our backyard and ended up with an exotic waterfall & more. What distinguished Dave from others was his vision and utilization of the existing landscape to create something bold yet natural. We knew going in that POPS was not the cheapest but we did not know until later that we overpaid by a lot. That wouldn't be so bad if they provided good service afterwards but if you ask around, there is a common theme about POPS: good work initially but poor service afterwards (which is why our entire subdivision terminated its relationship with POPS). Don't get me wrong, Dave can create something very beautiful with your backyard and he did with ours, which is why we initially recommended him to all our neighbors and went with them for our yard maintenance as well (which we are now cancelling because we are overpaying for this as well). But, if you encounter a problem after the work is done and the last check is written, expect to need to hound him and argue with him to try and get any problems fixed. Now, when people see our backyard and ask who did it, we still tell them POPS, but we no longer encourage them to choose POPS because of the service and followup issues we and our neighbors have had. My advice, avoid the subsequent headache, and just find someone else.
