One of the top-rated zoos in the country!, 7/31/2008

I had read that the Audubon Zoo is always on the top 5 list of top zoos in the country - and I can see why! The exhibits are wonderfully displayed and there are all kinds of different animals. I... love the Louisiana exhibit where you can see nutria up close. The otters always put on a good show too! Lots of hands-on exhibits and a great little children's petting area with goats, sheep, rabbits, a huge pig, and chickens. Only bad thing about it is ever since Tony the hippo died in 2005 (before Katrina) they haven't replaced him, so the zoo is hippoless. I would like to see them add hippos back into their wonderful exhibits.

good times, 7/12/2008

We went here all the time before Katrina and it was a great interactive zoo. The kids could hold snakes and alligators adn they had a great chimpanze area not sure how it faired through the storm.
