Scam artists, 11/08/2012

After having the hygenist tell me how bad my teeth were for the three cleanings she gave me, the dentist put the icing on the cake with her con-artistry. The dentist told me I had five cavities. I... have never had five in my whole life and asked her what could have happened to my teeth that would have caused such a thing. I also asked if she could show me where they were on an x-ray. She ignored my first question and said that the cavities were all over and that the desk could make an appointment to come in and have them filled. I immediately left and booked an appointment at another dentist's office. After spending many days worrying about the condition of my teeth I finally went in to se the dentist. The next dentist I went to said my teeth are very healthy and that I have no cavities at all. I would advise my worst enemy to stay away from this group.

Bad Service, No Modern Technology, Long Waits, 12/27/2010

My spouse and I went here and had no idea that dentists still operated without modern x-rays. The dental assistant jammed the x-rays in my mouth to the point that not only was I hurting but I felt... like I couldn't breathe. The x-rays they took were useless when we finally found a good dentist who said the x-rays were unreadable. They overcharged us for our services and still haven't refunded us. The dentists they say work there, don't actually work there. They don't even give you the name of your real dentist so you don't know who is actually your dentist. The customer service sucks. We waited hours to get our teeth cleaned then they didn't have a hygienist so my spouse had to reschedule for another day after we waited for two hours. Also, you have to pay big money to park in their parking structure. They won't validate your parking so you can spend $10-$15 for an appt. if they're running late. No thanks. We found another good dentist a few blocks away where the technology is modern, the customer service is great and where they don't rip you off financially.

YUCK

My grandfather was an endodentist. He always said never trust a dentist right out of dental school- they have too many loans to pay off. That is how I immediately felt with Dr. Alex R. My xrays were clean but he could "look" in my mouth and find 6 cavities- little suspect since I havent had a cavity in 20 years. The office and it's staff- pitiful. I have been on the "waiting list" for a cleaning for 3 MONTHS- with not one call from the office. Not impressed.

Uneccesary Work & an Administrative Nightmare

First of all they do work that doesn't really need to be done just to run up your tab. I think that's pretty well documented in other reviews. What's not highlighted as well is the administrative part of their practice. It's AWFUL! They have double booked my appointment time, failed to follow up on phone calls, told me they've sent emails when they haven't, and now they are sending me additional invoices because they say my insurance won't pay. I called my insurance company and there's no record of a claim being filed or of their office calling in to check on the status of a claim. These guys are a nightmare to deal with. Stay Away!!

STAY AWAY!!!

I'm a Navy Reservist. Went to see Dr. Rodriguez for the first time (because he was in my network) to get an exam because I'm about to deploy and there was no time to see the dentist at my command. Dr. Rodriguez said I needed all of this work done, and actually faxed over a form to my Reserve Command after I asked him not to because I was going to see my original dentist for a second opinion. I went to see my original dentist, Dr. Drescher with Cohen & Drescher in Atlanta, and Dr. Drescher said my teeth were fine and did a regular cleaning; instead of a deep-scaling that Dr. Rodriguez said I needed so badly. All Dr. Rodriguez wanted was money, and he jeopardized my deployment status because of it. Dr. Drescher said I am a Class I so now I am able to deploy this week. Stay away from Dental One and Dr. Rodriguez, because all they care about is money.

Dr. ARod is fantastic!

I've been a patient of Dr. Rodriguez for about 4 years now. Since I've been seeing him the overall discomfort in my mouth is completely gone and I am confident my teeth and gums are much healthier. He does a fantastic job of listening and working to find the best solutions for you. Plus, hes very gentle Im not a fan of having dental work done but he ensures Im comfortable and talks me through the procedures as he's doing them. I highly recommend Dr. Alex Rodriguez. They have a great new office located right in Midtown. If youre looking for a dentist, hes the one.

These people are rip-off artists - not doctors!!!

First thing I noticed is the huge office and only one hygenist. What's that all about? I went in for my first appointment, spent over an hour getting x-rays, a half an hour with Dr. Rodrigues who told me I needed 8 crowns and still didn't get my teeth cleaned. Waited four months for a teeth cleaning which had me up to almost a year which was not a good thing but they seemed totally unconcerned. They priced up all the "extensive" dental work and would have been able to book that appointment right away. Gee, do ya think? My former dentist (we moved) cautioned me about two things. First, equipment costs money and people need to use it to make it pay for itself, hence the 8 crowns and if you go to any doctor and get such a significantly different diagnosis, you've got to question it. Well, those two warnings came in handy with these rip-off artists. Found a new dentist and he has made no mention of the extensive dental work that Dr. Alex did. Gee, I wonder how come? Beware....these only want your money, not healthy teeth!!!

Horrendous Staff

First Dr. Rodriguez was an awesome dentist! I wish he would leave this group. My husband and I both went here and the staff could NEVER keep our contact numbers straight so they were contantly calling me for my husbands follow up and my husband for mine. More than once they told me I had an outstanding balance from my husbands visit and that I would need to pay but could not tell me what it was for. They were constanly changing appts. Once I received a call from them asking me to change my appt as I was standing in the middle of an airport. I agreed, but asked if ythey could send me an email and was told "we are all big girls and boys". Needles to say with this and the other issues we no longer use this office.

Be weary, and ask for prices upfront.

I went in for a routine cleaning/check-up on my first visit. They suggested some work I needed done (capping some exposed gums), which would cost me about $160 after insurance, plus the cost of cleaning. They then suggested a "deep-cleaning" instead of the standard, which I agreed to, as I had no idea it would cost dramatically more. Needless to say, when I walked out, they had maxed out my insurance ($1000), charged me $600, and then six weeks later sent me a bill for another $200, saying they had made an "adjustment". In the end, it cost $1800 to get my teeth cleaned and to get a few caps put on my exposed gums. I was treated by Dr. Prepall, a hygenist, and a tech. The quality of the work was average. I spent about 5-6 hours at the office. I am used to paying less than $100 for a cleaning - so this was quite a shock. Ask for pricing on everything up front. I felt like they talked me into things I didn't need, and then failed to disclose the actual out of pocket costs.

Set-up is uncomfortable

Modular cubicles are used instead of rooms, and this lack of medical professionalism extends somewhat to the staff - too laid back. However, the dental work is fine and the administrative staff is helpful and flexible.

The treatment is excellent, but the sense of them trying to get more money out of you is definitely there.

Still Skeptical

I've never had a problem with the Doctors here, it's the dental hygenists that I've had issues with. I had to wait 45 minutes once - which is unacceptable in my opinion - especially during my lunch hour. Then she scheduled me for my next cleaning before the 6 month mark, so my insurance didn't cover the cleaning. I arrived for the next cleaning and was told that it was scheduled for 2 days later - even though I had the written card stating my appointment was today. I'm just not really confident in the staff.
