Went today to this zoo and was pleasantly surprise
Went today to this zoo and was pleasantly surprised, there was plenty to see and not a huge area that left us tired. It is a great half day trip that allowed us to have a late lunch around 2pm. Although we missed the penguin feeding, we did see the sea lion feeding/ enrichment which was terrific
They had an interesting exhibit on the history of something the last time I was there. Learned some interesting facts, I love that everything is laid out in an open and frank way, while also having fun with the subject.

Great programs and funky art
Socrates runs great programs for the community. From free movies on Wednesday in the summer to kids' arts programs to the Farmers Market that's in its second successful season, there's something for everyone. The sculpture exhibits are funky, fun and change fairly often. A true neighborhood resource.
An Artistic Experience in Queens
The Noguchi is a wonderful museum devoted to the sculpture of Isamu Noguchi in Long Island City. The art is beautifully displayed and one of my favorite features is the garden where sculpture mingles with trees. The admission price has gone up over the years but is reasonable compared to most NYC museum prices. If you're coming by public transport do print directions. It's about a 15 minute walk from the subway and at the end of the walk it's a little hard to spot the correct turn off to the museum. A little signage would be helpful, in fact.
