Western Art Museum in Cartersville???
I grew up in Cartersville and the fact that there is a Smithsonian quality western art museum in downtown always leaves me scratching my head. The Smithsonian affiliation means that the facility is top notch and the first time I was there I couldn't help but be impressed. Is this the same city I grew up in and the site where Gilmer Street Baptist Church used to sit? Not sure about the quality of the collection as I'm not really into western art and the person I was with, having a visual arts background, pointed out several perspective issues in some of the artwork. But perhaps that has more to do with western art as a genre than anything else. If you are into local history be sure...
Lots to Learn
My oldest son never seems to get tired of this place. I feel like we've watched the Great Locomotive Chase with Fess Parker at least 100 times (maybe a bit of an exaggeration). There always seems to be something new to learn about local history. Great place, great value.

Beautiful Wedding and Reception Site
We had our daughter's wedding and reception at Roselawn Museum. This historic Victorian Home is beautifully furnished and landscaped, our guests loved it! The staff was wonderful to work with and so helpful.
This museum is well worth the drive if your child likes dinosaurs. The facility is very new and clean. It has a large dino exibit, a "things that go" exhibit, rock and mineral room as well as a planetarium. A nice touch is a toddler-friendly room(s) where little ones can run around and touch and explore everything. There is a cafe there and plenty of seats for those who drive a long way from the metro area. Fantastic! We will be back!
