I am registered with a couple of agencies in SD and this is by far the nicest group of people! Yes, the market is slow right now, so a lot of the agencies are slow. The difference here is that when I call, I dont get the impatient, rude hustle-off-the-phone "we'll mark you available" jargon. I actually chat with my agent, about the market, any new things I might be interested in trying, and then my agent usually lets me know other things that I might be interested in, not just the specific arena that I originally signed up in (Admin work, industrial, etc.) I have taken a few light temp jobs because they were suggested to me, they didnt by-pass me because I am normally considered an administrative worker. Way cool! My agent never has the sound of impatience or annoyance in her voice even if I check in twice a week. She must know how hard it is out there right now! Definitely register with Abcow! Even if you dont get the job of your dreams right away, they always treat you real good and try to keep you busy with temp stuff. Also, "sandiegoproHR" down there posted the same copy/paste ad on a bunch of agencies. Some people just arent qualified and agencies cant use them. They cant get mad at them for their own shortcomings.

I was very pleased with my experience at Abcow. Unlike most agencies, the process was very personal, I didn't get the run around and wasn't put up on 1,000 tests that I didn't need! It did help that I brought in scores from a different agency, they honored those scores and I did not have to sit through it all again. The recruiter I met with was energetic, had great things to say about my past experience and really helped me feel good about getting back into the workforce after being a stay at home mom for 8 years. Within a week I was interviewing and the following week I had a great job. They are there to listen to your needs and limitations, not to run a people mill like most places. The receptionist is also a peach! Not a very fancy office, but a very warm and welcoming staff who care about you!

Not worth the time - quite typical of agencies Granted the staff was kind when you go in to apply, but you are stuck doing the same tests regardless of how many times or how many branches you have applied for a job. What's worse is that is makes NO DIFFERENCE which branch you sign up because they accept jobs from clients ALL OVER THE COUNTY. I've never gotten a call back about any jobs and I've been pretty successful, and am qualified for every admin, HR, staffing job they have. Next time I called they had no clue who I was. If you ever sign up with these companies you may as well expect to waste a week's worth of time signing up at all of them and still end up in the unemployment line. Not worth it!

I was able to print and fill out all the paperwork and take my assessments at the convenience of my own home. It saved me so much time doing it at home rather doing it in their office. The staff was very friendly when I first came in.

In all the years working for various temp agencies, this one is very fast at finding a job when needed. They had an assignment for me in as little as 4 days!
