Welcome to Acworth Animal Hospital where quality care for your pet can be reliable and affordable. Whether your pet is in need of routine veterinary services, pet services or you are experiencing a pet-related emergency, we want to help and support you. Since 2001, we have developed a strong relationship with pet lovers in North Cobb and surrounding counties -- owners who value the commitment we've made to delivering state-of-the-art care for animals and respect for their owners.
Date: December 2014. Took my 80# "scared of the doctor" dog in today. The entire staff, including Dr Jake Tripp was friendly, compassionate and accommodating. They all went out of their way to put Pete at ease and deliver the care he needed. The doctor even came out into the foyer, where Pete was comfortable and relaxed, rather than making him go into an exam room. What a wonderful experience! And when I got the bill I was shocked at how LOW it was. The receptionist at check out also clearly reviewed all treatment instructions and medications with me. THANK YOU ACWORTH ANIMAL HOSPITAL! regarding the other reviews listed here, they are very old.

The vets are solid and they examine the dog in front of you, which is a big deal for me. I've had to deal with frequent issues at the front desk, though. I think they have too many people up there.

Dr. Reddington is the only vet our Great Dane would even allow to touch him. She is gentle and loving with the animals and is patient and explains all the information to the humans. Desk, nurse and kennel staff are mostly very friendly and helpful although we've run into a few exceptions. Prices can't be beat but that's not why we have stayed for so many years. I highly recommend Dr. Reddington and Acworth Animal!

We took our dog there for years. Although we gave our dog her pills monthly, they told us she had to have a heart worm procedure that would be hundreds of dollars. We took her to another vet who said she did not have heart worms and then to another vet to verify it. Our dog is fine. Needless to say we don't go there anymore.

I was treated very rudely by the lady at the front desk. She was very condisending and ignored some of my questions. I also noticed that several of the other 'nurse' types were rude to the other staff acting in a manner to belittle them. I would hope they treat the pets better than they do eah other.

I had to get a note from the DR to take my little one on a flight back home. Mom was sick and dying. I had to get papers allowing him to fly. I got them but then airline said I needed another note stating he could go in cargo, had to get another note at the last minute faxed, it cost me $80 for a home visit, never was told I needed it by either DR or Delta. Then my dog needed ear medication. He does every spring would not give it to me, they wanted to see him even knowing his has this problem every spring, instead more money for them. Needed his heart worm meds also would not give me a prescription, so I could use on service on the Internet, they said oh we use 4 sites you tell us which one we will fax it in. They get a kick back. I need a vet that cares not one that is money hungry. They change their prices without telling us. Guess they only care about their filled pockets.

I have been taking my animal there for a few years and today will be my last visit. First of all when I signed in my new dog they asked me to fill out some info which is fine. My dog weighs 100lbs and is hard for me to write wile holding his leash. The girl at the counter suggested putting him in the car wile I filled the info out I was not fond of that idea. I then waited over a hour to see the vet and even she was not to nice. I did not get to speak with her after they took my dog back for vax. Last year when they saw my cat who is not a nice kitty but I love him all them same the vet had the never to say to me if that was his cat he would have taken it to the pound. I am glad the cat lives with me and not him.Overall I was not happy with the service provided today and will not be returning even through their prices are low.

I have searched and searched for an animal hospital with reasonable prices. Acworth Animal Hospital not only has good prices but doctors that really seem to care about my pets. I highly recommend them to all my friends and co-workers.

I've used this Vet for 10 years. It used to be a good 'ol country Vet with common sense approach to medicine. Complete annual visits including vaccines we're like $85. Now there's this new, young perky Vet. My pets last annual visit was jacked up to $225. They're using the "its office policy" to justify jacking up bills with follow-up treatments and extra charges that the old timer didn't do. There's medical necessity and there's office policy. One is ethical; the other is for paying off student loans. I took my 4 year old dog in with an itchy eye. I got the same "its allergy" diagnoses the other reviewer got. I also got the Benedril recommendation and Steroid eye drops. Allergies that affect only one eye. Right. This Dr's license needs to be reviewed. She also seems to have a thing for Benedril and Steroids. My bill was more than twice what was quoted. Actually it was closer to three times the amount they said it would be. By several hundreds of dollars more. Maybe this new Dr bought the business from the 'ol timer? I can say this, the Dr I saw there is dangerous with her diagnoses and treatments and they jack up your bill using "office policy" to justify additional, undisclosed fees and medically unnecessary treatments. This used to be the best animal hospital in town. I don't know all the ins and outs of why this office changed but I can no longer recommend them.

I took my 8 month old dog in for an ongoing skin issue, he was miserable. They said oh its nothing, gave him some diphenhidramine(benadryl) and said that would help!??? 3 weeks go by and he has chewed himself RAW! We go back again for another visit. They have him an allergy injection and said it was allergies and he would probably need one every month...($150 later)... About a month later hes back to being miserable again. So this time i took him to another doctor. I told this doctor they gave him an allergy injection and showed him the records. Come to find out the injection was a steroid injection that is EXTREMELY harmful to animals if given over and over(it can cause liver failure, kidney failure, done destruction...etc. They are looking for a quick fix, your money, and dont care about the well being of your pet. Will never go back!!!

I took my dog in for spay and other treatment. Although I called and received estimates for the services, my final bill was more than 2x the amounts quoted. The vet called before starting surgery and was making diagnosis & prescribing medications before performing the actual surgery/exams. I will NEVER take another pet to the clinic.

I recently was informed that one of our cats needed a teeth cleaning and would have to be put to sleep. I was very concerned but the caring and knowledgeable staff put me at ease when I dropped our cat off that morning. When I came that evening to pick her up the veterinary technician who brought her out told me she was just in the back petting her and calming her nerves. I was taken aback that they really cared that much about each animal that came through their doors each day. I would recommend this business to anyone in the neighborhood.
