The Aikido Center of Atlanta is one of the oldest aikido dojos in the United States, which as founded in 1967 by Sensei Rodney Grantham. Aikido Center is a charter member of the United States Aikido Federation. The Aikido Center offers classes for children ages 8-17 as well as adult classes.
The Aikido Center of Atlanta is a great place to be. The teachers and students are welcoming and respectful to new people, and the level of practice is sincere and effective. Our aikido is a combination of vigorous physical practice--throwing and being thrown, and inner practice--learning to be mindful, centered, and connected to one's partner. The Aikido Center has many high ranking teachers, each with their own unique approach to aikido, which provides the opportunity for a variety of learning experiences. The dojo is located in one of the oldest structures in Avondale Estates. Constructed from Stone Mountain granite, with skylights illuminating the large tatami mat space, the dojo instills a feeling of peace and serenity.
