Save your money. Amelia Island has many places where you can access the beach and be the only one around for free. The facilities here are old and dingy and need serious renovations. The staff is snide and I've seen them treat their employees poorly. I recommend the Ritz Carlton or the Hampton Inn downtown.

This is worth going to just for their private beach, but the resort has a lot more to offer. There are numerous activities on site including fabulous golf courses with ocean views, nature paths you can explore by bike or Segway, a quaint shopping center, and several great restaurants. Everything is expensive, but this is much better than going to the public beach.
