I will continue posting throughout this process. I have read the majority of posts here and the responses from Mary Anderson and have yet to see where the company has flat out admitted wrong doing or fault , having excuses or reasons for every bad review here. So like I said this should be interesting. I have not yet contacted Anderson's but I will after posting this. I will make this short and only speak facts, This house was built and bought new in 1972 it came with central heating and still had original heater as do 75% of the homes here. Very rarely does a homes heater go bad to the point of replacing. I grew up in this house. So long story short. knowing that the thermostat needed replacing, heater ran fine and heated this 2800+ sqf home with vaulted ceilings just fine. After my mothers stroke in 2012 she called Anderson's to come out and check the heater and air conditioner which was not performing according to her because she was either baking or freezing, also I knew the air conditioner needed some work probably some new Freon. I go to visit my mother and help her with some bills I notice there is a new thermostat and run across a bill for $400 something for filters and duct cleaning thinking nothing of it until I run across another bill for $4000+ I comment you must have gotten the air fixed, she said no it was for the heater so I open the closet door and instantly I feel my blood pressure rising !!! First off the original heater worked (to be continued I hope)
Anderson's came out upgraded the thermostat, replaced a good heater with one that must be for a single wide trailer didn't hook the wires back up from air conditioner and OVER CHARGED an elderly woman to the tune of all together almost $5000.00 I could get a new heater and air conditioner for that !!!!
Area San Diego, CA
Cost $3,000 - $4,999

My elderly mother needed a new heater and Anderson's Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning was fantastic! Her older home has some challenging features and they were able to install a first rate heating system. The employees were prompt, kind, and professional, and did a top notch job!

I have used this company 3 times now and will use them for all future needs. I recommend them to my neighbors just as they were recommended to me. They'd replaced my heater and added air conditioning and were awesome. I got three bids and they were right in the middle. I live on the Mount streets in Clairemont and have no attic to speak of. This made my job more difficult than average. They worked around my older father and two dogs with superior professionalism and even brought do treats on the second day. I have pictures I will try to post. I have never used this site before put when I posted my review on Yelp for them Yelp took it right down, not sure why. Anyway they are so good I thought I would try's to find another place to post. Let's hope this stays up. These people were worth every penny...very clean and very honest.

WARNING! Outrageous prices. Confusing fee schedule with "up front pricing" (Stupid me, for not reading the reviews before calling them.) I discovered a slight leak from one of the toilet tank bolts. I checked online to see what needed to be done (remove tank & bolts, sandpaper the hole, replace). The cost of the bolt & gasket kit online, $8.55. Instead of DIY I called Anderson. I told the plumber there was a leak from the bolt - I guess he took a look at me and thought, "female, old, dumb", or else the plumbers are pushed to upsell. He said, "oh no, it's leaking from, etc - ." I told him to put his finger on the left bolt and feel the water. I didn't need or want any more because I had just a few weeks previously changed out the "innards" of the tank. So he quoted me - $657! A rip-off. We hassled over the price (I really should have just asked him to leave). After "calling his manager", the price was reduced because I didn't need a "full tank rebuild", which I never asked for. I still was overcharged. Less than an hour work, plus a $8.55 part. He tried to impress me that I was getting a 2-year warranty (on a $8.55 part). Their fees are based on 9 levels, with a price for each individual item in each level. As an example, for the work I myself did previously: In level 2: toilet flapper, plus a tank trip lever. My cost $38.00 online, plus 5 minutes of work. Their level 2 pricing: Flapper $269; Trip lever $269 = $458. As I said - beware.

Recently our main drain starting backing up so we called Anderson. Their tech came out promply but then told us they do not snake drains from the roof vent(like most plumbers do) but would have to remove the toilet to snake the main drain. The written estimate for this was: $400 to remove and replace the toilet and another $300 to run the snake, for a total of $700.00. WOW! Then he tried to upsell me to a sewer line camera inspection for $1500.00. I told him "no thanks" and called another company and got it fixed for $200.

If the writer of this post would call me I would be greatly appreciative - .lylelwr
I have spent some time trying to find your call in our system and I cannot match it up. The pricing does not really match our preset pricing structure either. Our pricing is comparative to companies offering the same services so something is not right. There has to be something wrong. I would love to go over your estimate with you. We do not go on roofs. We find it is not in the customer's or the technicians best interest. The equipment is very heavy and we see allot of roof damage caused by the plumber standing on your roof with this heavy equipment. Moreover injuries from loading this heavy equipment on and off the roof is causes the most common injury we see in drain repairs. If you would consider calling my office at 800 530 1102 and ask for me , Mary Jean Anderson it would be greatly appreciated. I will let our staff know that I am expecting a call from LYLELWR. Thank you Kudzu for doing this great service to our community and for us as service providers.
I have used Anderson once before to replace a water heater. Overall, I was happy with the service and the price. However, a year later, I recommended them to my mom and had them come out to replace the angle stop and riser on my toilet. The plumber explained that it would be a difficult job but, he thought it would not be too hard. So, he gave me a price of 190 (instead of 300) which I thought was high but, I was left with the impression it would take some time. Well, it took about 20 minutes total including shutting off the water value, testing the water pressure and the toilet. The price is ridiculous and I feel like I got robbed. Then about 10 minutes later I went into the bathroom and notice that my toilet was leaking water and he had to come back to fix the problem. Not to mention it was way low Wednesdays in which you are suppose to get 15% off the price. But, the invoice was written up with 190 as the discounted price so the original price was over 200 dollars which was not originally quoted. So, I am not sure if this is a gimmick or not. I am sad to write this review as I did have some good luck with them a few years ago. But, at this point, I could not recommend them.

Recently we used our yearly water heater service from this company. The workman was professional and polite. A few weeks later, we noticed a small leak from the water heater. We called Anderson back and they sent the same person out to help us. He installed a brass fitting and our leak was gone. The speed and quality of these technicians is far beyond any kind of service that we have gotten from large companies from which we have warranties for our appliances. We plan to do all our repairs through Anderson from now on!! Thanks to this company for providing some old-fashioned kind of service :)

EDIT: I am downgrading my review. We voiced our complaints to Anderson during the follow up call and they were not concerned until I wrote this review. I wish Anderson knew that the best way to make a customer happy is to treat them right the FIRST time, not to put them in the position of complaining in order to receive good service. - - I bought the Kudzu "Great Deal" for Anderson Plumbing & when we had an issue we knew needed repair (clogged sink), we called them up to use our "deal". The "inspection" consisted of turning on the faucets for a few seconds. There were no suggested recommendations for known problems we have like a slow draining sink or a shower faucet that's loose, the technician didn't even comment on those problems but just moved on from there. When it came to snaking the sink, they charged us $275. This seems really overpriced and unreasonable to me. I was disappointed that their pricing is so high that the "great deal" wasn't a great deal at all. I asked around and other friends of mine, using licensed/professional plumbers here in San Diego, paid much, much less than that for the same service. Coming back to read reviews on this site, I feel like some of them must be fake. I'm also shocked to hear that other customers were able to negotiate the pricing. It is unethical of the company to offer a "sliding scale" pricing based on how much the customer nags about it. Most plumbers base their rates on the time it takes.

Unfortunately when we receive a review from KUDZU there is no requirement for the reviewer to identify themselves as on some other review sites. Our procedure is to call every customer after every call and check to see if they were satisfied. We log all lead sources. We have checked our KUDZU Big Deal calls and read the description of each call. We also checked the happy check calls to see if there was anyone who had voiced a complaint about our service or our service technician. There is no indication from anyone that they were dissatisfied with the service or the technician.
When a review site provides the reviewer anonymity it also serves as a tool for less than ethical competitors to lodge fake complaints. (I'm not saying that is the case here - I'm just alerting whoever reads this to the possibility)
If this is a legitimate customer, would you please give me a call. My promise to you is 100% satisfaction or your money back. You can reach me at 619-449-3852. Please let the customer service rep know you are the unhappy KUDZU big deal customer and that I am expecting your call.

In a nutshell, our service was fine. Nothing outstanding, nothing terrible--as expected. However, I would be wary of all the glowing reviews here. Anderson follows this board, and it seems odd that vast majority of newer posts are wonderful. Plus, many of the reviews are by people who post 1 time--that in itself is odd. It looks like someone is posting fake reviews in an effort to push down the poor reviews. I seriously doubt people get this jazzed about a heating/plumbing service.

First of all thank you for choosing us to do your service. When we are in the home after providing service, we usually will ask our customer if they would mind posting a review about our services. One of the sites we direct people to is Kudzu. Many of these people are first time reviewers as you have noted. We do not use "shills" to post our reviews.
What concerns me more than anything about your comment is that we apparently did not "wow" you with our service. Please give me a call. I really want to know more about your service call and how we can make it a better experience next time.

Outstanding service. My water heater blew up during Thanksgiving weekend. The tech arrived promptly. He was very courteous and got right to work replacing my water heater. I am most impressesed that I was able to work out a payment plan to pay for the new water heater. This is an awesome company with people who truly about their customers!

After being told by two other companies that my water heater was a "special size" that would have to be ordered, Anderson came out and had the correct size one on their truck. They removed the old one and had the new one working quickly. I would have been without hot water for 4 days had I relied on those other companies. Anderson was professional and knowledgeable. You are probably reading these reviews because (like I was) you are not quite sure who you can trust. You can stop here and call Anderson without reservation.
