Au Mandarin is a classy take on the typical Chinese restaurant. Linen napkins and silver chopsticks are the norm here. The food is excellent, but portions are small. Of course, as it is a nicer restaurant, the food will be more expensive. Anything sweet and sour is definitely good. The servers are also very attentive and helpful. Obviously, this is not the type of place to bring your badly misbehaved children. As it is in the Financial District of New York, it would also be suitable for a business lunches, if that is the type of place you are looking for. It is definitely more formal than your average Chinese restaurant, so shirts, shoes, and all of that other decorum is required. However, 3-pieced suits are highly unnecessary. This is just a higher end restaurant that serves the Oriental taste.
