I had read that the Audubon Zoo is always on the top 5 list of top zoos in the country - and I can see why! The exhibits are wonderfully displayed and there are all kinds of different animals. I love the Louisiana exhibit where you can see nutria up close. The otters always put on a good show too! Lots of hands-on exhibits and a great little children's petting area with goats, sheep, rabbits, a huge pig, and chickens. Only bad thing about it is ever since Tony the hippo died in 2005 (before Katrina) they haven't replaced him, so the zoo is hippoless. I would like to see them add hippos back into their wonderful exhibits.

We went here all the time before Katrina and it was a great interactive zoo. The kids could hold snakes and alligators adn they had a great chimpanze area not sure how it faired through the storm.
