I was told that I had a problem that wasn't covered by warranty so I decided to shop for a better value. BMW told me that the problem was somewhere it wasn't which sent me on a wild goose chase. Ultimately I found a good repair person who fixed the right problem for half the price BMW quoted.

I purchased a BMW at this dealership about a year and a half ago. My experience is that they are WAY too big, and the service overall is well below what I used to get from Kearny Mesa Infiniti. They have kept my car for three and four days at a time to fix minor annoyances like squeeks and rattles. The service advisor assigned to me is inexperienced and can't answer my questions about why it takes so long for simple things. This will be my first and only purchase from this dealership network, Penske Auto Group.

After dealing with a salesperson who tried to get me to trade my Lexus in for thousands less then they ultimately agreed to, I think we have a deal and voila! the finance manager tells me I have to buy Lo Jack or they won't be making any money. I had Lo Jack on my Lexus, I would have bought it for the BMW too had it been presented up front, but to tell me I HAVE To buy it? No thanks. I went to the El Caon dealer and bought the same car, with Lo Jack and teflon for $40 less a month. I guess I should thank San Diego...

I turned in my car for electronic malfunctions because there is no juice when you start the car and I was feed with wrong information about how I need to change the starter but the starter was fairly new. They took out my car alarm and gave back my car with missing emblem, front side kirt and a huge amount to pay. Never called me for updates it took about a week and the reason is i gave them a wrong phone number, the same number the service Representative called me the first day i drop off my car.

I decided to give BMW of San Diego second chance. My first change was when I purchased my car. I had to go elsewhere because BMW of SD would not let me test drive the car I wanted, mileage sensitive, is what they said. While other county dealers had no problems letting me test drive. My second chance, I took my car in for its first service. After a short wait in the waiting room the service advisor took me as far as his clipboard to sign my papers. Unusual, I thought, but ok. Then I had to wait another 45 minutes for the loaner. I guess making an appointment doesn't really help. I asked for the cost for the iPod integration. Depending on whom you ask you can get quote from $572 to $950. That just seems so wrong. Poor fool who paid $950. Lastly, since the service advisor doesn't "represent BMW North America", yup that is a quote. He could not help me fix my issues with my BMW Assist. I guess they do not have the phone numbers for BMW North America either. Wow, it is not that $200 makes much of a difference with a $90k car, but the fact that they would say "I do not represent BMW of North America." Nonetheless, I should have I stuck with where I bought my car, a little out of the way, but it is worth patronizing good businesses. I will go back on my hands and knees hoping they take me back.

I personally enjoy going to Cunningham BMW, even though it's a bit of huff, than BMW of San Diego. There's just way too many people at BMWSD. At Cunningham, you are more intimitately taken care of, from a chaffeur who rides you to your house versus having to rent a car that you may not be familiar with at BMWSD.

Although we didn't buy a car here, the staff were friendly and patient with us. They were very helpful! This dealership also has a lot of cars in stock and great deals, although you can usually find a better deal in Los Angeles county.

There is always some trepidation when you bring your car to a dealer, but if you have a BMW, take it to BMW of San Diego. Any of the service people that you get are completely up front and honest with you, they don't try to have you get things fixed that aren't needed. They call you afterwards to make sure that everything is still working okay. You can definitely tell that they make customer service a very large priority for their staff.
