I have been a Banfield Wellness Plan customer for the last 8 years. Our experience with our previous vets at Banfield in other states was simply great! However, the one in Duluth, GA, is terrible. Whenever I am there for my pets regular check-ups or sick visits, I never leave that place feeling good. They simply try to rip off the worried pet owners. They recommend unnecessary procedures and medicines. When my pets are perfectly okey and are there for routine check-ups, they try their best to sell at least one that's not covered by plan. They just give you the estimate w/o explaning what they are and why they recommend them unless I ask about each item. They even decline to run a heartworm test that's covered under the plan anyway when my previous vets at Banfield always did for my pets. The only reason, I think, they're still in business is thanks to their great location. The staff is almost always tired and blank (far from kind or nice). After being with this location for two years, I decided that my pets and I do not deserve being treated this way when I've been a loyal customer of Banfield and its wellness plan for so many years. To those moms and dads out there who're considering going to Banfield... Banfield wellness plan is great, but, you'll never get the full benefit of it from this location, Duluth, Banfield. Seriously...Walk away, and go to other sincere and caring vets and their staff. Do not waste your money here.

The first couple of visits, I didn't notice the lack of service due to the over-friendly nurses towards my first kitten. But as kitty grew up to a cat, I noticed the service and quality of care is not the best out there.

I really didn't mind having my dog go there for her shots or anything else she needed done. The last time I took her there they had me come and get her since she was giving them a problem. When I went back to the room where all the dogs are kept, I noticed she was put into a small cage that a cat would go into and not some medium size dog. As soon as I find another place to take her, I will be moving her records over. They also said she had an infection in her ear when she didn't.

After recently moving to the area, I took my dog to Banfield for urinary problems. The vet would not look at my dog's previous medical records, recent blood work, or recent diagnosis with kidney disorder. I reluctantly agreed with the vet's strong recommendations for new blood tests in addition to urinalysis ($500+). The urinalysis showed a urinary tract infection (UTI), and blood test confirmed the kidney disorder, which the doctor presented to us as if it was new information. I was given a prescription which worked well and told that I could call back for a prescription refill if needed. I called for a refill after my dog began having more problems. The vet reviewed previous test results and said they did not indicate a UTI and could not refill the prescription. She said to bring my dog in for more tests or call back next week to talk to the original doctor. Meanwhile, I began giving my dog cranberry pills which helped tremendously. I called back the next week and left a message but he did not ever call back. Perhaps I visited during difficult times, but I felt the neglected by the staff. I also looked into the insurance plan, however due to the kidney disease 'pre-existing condition' my dog did not qualify. I am frustrated with Banfield and seeking another vet, perhaps from a business highly rated on Kudzu!

I will agree that Dr Martinovich is great, but I have only seen her about 3 of the 20+ times I have taken my pet there. I am currently looking for a new vet because the price I was charged exceeded the price I was quoted by $50. I then had to take my pet back to get more work done that they did not do the first time and have to pay $90 again. When they call to "check" on your pet the day after they are seen they cannot answer questions and do not seem to want to listen to concerns. They are in a hurry and call because they have to. They are just too busy to dedicate the proper amount of time to the pets they see.

The staff here are excellent. They have treated my dogs as their own. The assistants are all very helpful, they remember my dogs names, call to check up on them and for reminders when services are due. Dr Martinovich is an excellent vet, very personable and detailed.
