Mister A's has an exception view of the San Diego Bay and is perfect to watch the sunset while dining..I'd absolutely recommend sitting outside. In addition to the atmosphere, the food was very good. The Mac and Cheese was outstanding, probably the best I've ever had.

We were not disappointed by picking Bertrand at Mister A's for a celebration of my birthday. The twelfth floor location provided stunning views; the service was exceptional. The food disappointed, beautiful presentations without the taste or surprises expected at this highly rated restaurant. If you go enjoy the view, a glass of wine and maybe the truffle fries but look to some of the other great restaurants in San Diego for the food.

Yes, the food is good, the presentation is very original and pretty. But the markup on the wine list is ridiculous! It's near impossible to find a bottle under $50, and oh, you can bring your own bottle for a $30 corkage fee! The food isn't that spectacular as to warrant having to spend as much or more for the wine.

the restaurant has a great view and good service, the food is good, but nothing wow... the decor could be nicer for a 5 star. it's pricy but its a decent place

Mister A's is a really romantic spot! Both the views and the food are out of this world. It's perfect for when you want to go all out, top of the line all the way!

Mister A's is a beautiful and elegant place to dine. The outdoor seating has a perfect view. The food and service are good, although perhaps a little overpriced.

This is a great downtown restaurant for upscale dinning. It has a great view of all of downtown and the food is delicious. It's a little pricey but the view and the service is worth it.

While dining at 8:45pm on 1/30/08, I ordered a drink from the bar. After taking several sips of mine, I found a 1 inch shard of glass on the side of my glass. The large shard came from the rim of my glass and there was also another chip in the rim. I was completely petrified that I had swallowed glass. Our server said the dishwasher (appliance) had recently been replaced and that they've been having problems with broken glasses since getting the new machine. I've already contacted the restaurant's management and notified them, they've denied the statement made by the server. Bertrand himself called my husband to yell at him and call him a liar & scam artist. The manager, Penny, pretty much said the same thing. I'm just concerned that this is a real problem and that other diners are at risk. Their food was just ok, I've had much better meals and service at Morton's, Island Prime and Prado. Please don't give them any of your money, they really don't deserve it.

My husband and I had a wonderful seat and could see all of downtown San Diego. We both had a steak which was cooked to our request and was very good. The service was fast and courteous and the atmostphere was very intimate. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend.

If you enjoy sitting on a heated patio in Downtown San Diego, with a view of the entire city as your backdrop, you will love love love this restaurant. Whether you are on a romantic dinner for two or out on the town with the girls, this restaurant sets the scene. The service is impecible and the food is high end but not overly priced. This place is fantastic!

Despite the picturesque view, Mister A's does not provide the experience that a 5 star restaurant should, in ANY way. They proved that to us. Our waitress, regardless of being new, forgot our order entirely while we waited 45 minutes for a simple steak dinner for two - because she forgot she was even our waitress - we as patrons had been forgotten entirely for what became over an hour. When we complained, we didn't even get the courtesy of a manager to apologize. THEN, when the steaks finally arrived, without more than few bites, I found a hair under my steak in the sauce. We were mortified. The Maitre D came out to speak with us, a questioned the validity of the hair being their responsibility!! Like we would have waited all that time to sabotage our own food?!? We were appalled. And to add insult to injury, we were offered a 'round of drinks' as an apology....as if it were a bar. We simply left - went home hungry and angry. That was the worst service and treatment we have ever recieved. We were assured a manager would followup with us in regards to the horrific experience....it STILL remains unresolved. Therefore I urge any couple or patrons of San Diego go to the Prado in Balboa Park or Maitre D's in La Jolla - where the food and service far outweigh a 'beautiful view.' Trust me, we got all dressed up just to be humiliated and left hungry.

Mister A's has one of the best views in San Diego - nice staff, good food and fabulous outdoor terrace (with heaters). A nice place to take guests from out of town, or business clients.

For a memorable dining experience everyone should enjoy Mister A's at least once during their stay in San Diego. Siting high atop a building in the Balboa Park area of town and right along side the landing pattern for Montgomery Field (San Diego)International Airport, one can experience the thrill of watching giant jets almost at eye-level as they approach the landing strip. All this while enjoying excellent drinks, wonderful hors-d'ouevre and fantastic cuisine. Day or evening, casual or formal it is one experience you will never forget. Why not go formal?
