Blowing Up Barriers Enterprises, true to its name, exists to help, especially stifled writers and artists, blow up the barriers keeping them from devoting their lives to their art, or to at least putting time into production of their art and placing it before the public at levels that breed satisfaction and deep contentment. Thus creativity workshops and awareness classes for those who envision another life but stall, repeatedly, at efforts to make that life their current, daily.. reality.
The creativity workshops and awareness classes, entitled Blowing Up Barriers: Attaining the Fully Imagined Life, are geared toward "the career-discontented or those afraid to pursue their dreams." Participants focus on 26 weeks of drawing, creative writing, meditation and individual or group support as they envision then make deliberate moves toward "attaining the fully imagined life."
Workshops are only one aspect of the business: Dr. Williams has also published seven manuscripts (in hardback and in paperback) via print-on-demand publisher Lulu.com. Intrigued by the speed, ease of upload and lack of initial set-up fees, Dr. Williams decided Lulu.com was the company for her.
Dr. Williams also promotes her work and that of her interviewees on her radio show, Poetry & Prose & Anything Goes with Dr. Ni, on which she interviews authors about their new books and writing lives. You can find her every Friday afternoon from 2-3 p.m. EST on BlogTalkRadio.com parrying and thrusting with the new intelligentsia.
BUB Enterprises first year of activities center upon Dr. Williams strengths: the marketing and promotion of her books and workshops through speaking engagements; social networking internet sites; organizations and memberships relevant to the publishing, library, womens empowerment, creativity enhancement and trauma survival industries and direct mail.
Speaking engagements will be gleaned from calendars of observances created by The National Health Information Center and the Office of Educational Partnerships (Dept. of Interior) and through memberships in Women for Hire Speakers Connection and eWomen Publishing Network. They will involve, typically, a creative presentation by Dr. Williams and the sponsoring organization providing copies of her books to all in attendance.
The companys competitive advantage centers upon Dr. Williams diverse cultural knowledge base. Well-versed in T. S. Eliot and Toni Cade Bambara; 5th and Central Ebonics and Spanglish, Dr. Williams can reach out to those for whom past traumas stall their efforts to break free and live as they would wish. Her broad knowledge and experience allow her to speak to groups of women in transition (as she knows what it means, in person, to wait for a DPW disbursement) and to the intelligentsia (as she has been an adjunct professor of English for 13+ years).
Dr. Niama L. J. Williams is a poet, essayist, memoirist and adjunct professor of English with a Leeway Foundation grant, inclusion in an NAACP Image award nominated anthology (Check the Rhyme), and participation in a Sable Magazine/Arvon Foundation writing workshop in the United Kingdom under her belt. She is available for comment at 484/231-1768 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
