At first I thought it was a lame gimmick.....mix your own fixins in the burger...What did my girlfriend drag me into? Then I took the first bite. Oh. Dang. whoa...waitaminnit...So THATS what they mean "gourmet" Burger. Not to mention the chili pepper onion rings keep your belly warm for a bit after....

Boomerangs may be the best kept secret in San Diego. They grind gourmet ingredients in with the meat, have delicious appetizers, and a really good happy hour daily. The sides are delicious ( sweet potato fries are awesome) and even the old stand-bys like onion rings are done with a little flare and originality. Won't break the bank either, you can eat for around 9 or 10 bucks. Only hang up is that its behind a taco shop, but easy to see from clairemont mesa blvd. Go rangs!

This place is great - a small business trying to make it in the world of restaurant chains and mass marketing...I love it. You don't want to go here unless you have some time to wait for the burgers. That is because all of their burgers are made fresh with ingredients that YOU PICK mixed in with the meat. You can get anything from sundried tomatoes to pineapple to the more traditional onions or bacon. They have it all! And the taste? Well, I thought it was definitely worth the wait. I also enjoyed the sides - Garlic Pepper Fries and the Chili Peppered Crusted Onion Rings. YUM! I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. Support our local individually owned restaurants and eat some good food while you are at it!
