Building Knowledge fully exceeded my expectations for new home inspection. The process for purchasing a new home can be really stressful, particularly when it comes to discovering issues with your new home. My inspector, Adam Cashin, was pivotal to my purchasing process. He was so thorough, really knowledgeable, and very interactive while inspecting the new home. He walked us through all details, explained impacts, and identified options for rehabilitation. He very quickly turned around an expansive, detailed, and clearly articulated report that informed our purchasing negotiations and plans for action. He helped me prioritize issues, see through true impacts, and prepare for long term planning. I spoke with him multiple times as I was finalizing my contract process and he was honest, supportive, and accessible the entire way. He assured that his inspection was of highest quality, but he also assured that I was content and confident in understanding my choices and options. When it came to finalization for closing, he was truly an expert opinion and a key participant in ensuring I was supported through passing of keys. He really cares about protecting his clients and getting to root issues. I truly felt he was my advocate in the process. I'm so grateful to have found Adam and Building Knowledge!

I selected Building Knowledge LLc based on the Yelp and Kudzu reviews. You can book right online, seeing everyone's availability and each has a bio so you can find the right fit. While scheduling your inspection, you can also schedule for environmental testing. No surprise fees as they have everything listed so you know up front. Since we were having an inspection done on a home built in the mid 70's and on a basement, we opted for environmental testing- mold, radon and asbestos to be conducted in addition to a bug inspection as well. An outside vendor did the bug inspection and was very thorough and provided a detailed pest inspection as well as quoting for pest services and termites. Radon was conducted by Harry and he was very nice and professional was in and out in no time and results returned as promised. Asbestos was conducted by Duane. Since the home was built in the mid 70's, he looked for all the places that asbestos was known to be used and took 1 sample from the popcorn ceiling. Adam did our inspection and boy was he thorough. He was fast, but without rushing, and efficient. He had no problem being followed around and peppered with questions from us.He conducted the mold air samples as well. Because of all the issues that were found during the inspection and additional testing (asbestos positive, mold positive and high $ home repairs), Building Knowledge saved us from a home that was riddled with problems and toxic to our family.

    Terrible inspection

I'm not going to name who my inspector was, he was a nice guy, nice but unqualified. He over emphasized on small things and missed big ones. There was a picture taken by him that clearly showed water stains on the basement (unfinished section) wood ceiling, however he ignored that while pointed out something else in the picture. That missed water stain ended up costing me 10K to fix - to rebuilding that section of the house and 15K more to replace all the hardwood floor that was damaged by the leak, and my licensed contractor was shocked that it wasn't even brought up during inspection when there was actually a photo of that area. He also missed another big sign for another leak, had to pay couple thousand to get that fixed too. He also missed was over-rated breaker on two of the AC units, however this is small compared to the 25K I had to pay for the damaged caused by the leaks that should have been uncovered when water stains were present. I called the company, and was told it wasn't their responsibility initially, then I told them check certain picture in the inspection report, then I was offered 200 dollars. Please people, be aware, this is not the kind of company you want to use when you make your important decision. I have learnt it the hard way.

We completely refute the claims made by the person posting the review. Two members of our team talked with this client multiple times, studied her assertions carefully, and arrived at a totally different conclusion. We would prefer to direct readers to our 250+ positive reviews. We do acknowledge that our inspections are less than perfect, just like any professional, but we take pride in our long history and stellar reputation.

**I couldn't be more happy with my experience.** I booked Emily Burrows, and she knows her sh*t. She was very thorough and explained all my questions without a hint of judgement for my lack of understanding. This was my first time buying a home, ever, so this whole process was new. Emily is a very personable woman, and made me feel very comfortable Throughout the whole process. Her communication was clear, concise, on point, and gave great recommendations for which concerns to address first, and offering continued assistance in finding professionals to help fix or address issues that were found. Though we were pretty lucky with finding the house we did, we have found some of the greatest professionals to help out. I highly recommend anyone to utilize Builiding Knowledge, and more specifically, Emily Burrows.

I found Building Knowledge on the Yelp website. After reading the reviews, I booked Adam Cashin. From the moment we met him, he was professional, arrived early and encouraged my brother & I to ask questions. He answered many questions and was very informative. He found so many things wrong with a brand new house!!!

Not so sure about this experience

I wasn't going to write a review but the keep bugging me to do so. To start off, my inspector was over an hour late. He put in the wrong city when he was on the way to my appt and went to the wrong place. I was meeting him at an empty house so there was not much to do until he arrived. He was kind about the oops and did his job well. I came back the next day and the AC wasn't working suddenly. He never said it wasn't cooling when I was there, I find it weird that it happened to go out the same day! Another thing is the house smelled like natural gas when I walked in the next day. As it turns out, he said in his report it didn't work but he did something wrong and actually left it on. I had to air out the house after turning it on. Glad something worse didn't happen. We've actually found mold in the basement that I was afraid was there behind some paneling. I pointed out that I thought that may be the case but he said it was not his job to remove any paneling to see. It was so easy to pop back and check into but he didn't even try. Needless to say, I'm not very satisfied with this experience and can't recommend them.

Thanks for your feedback, especially the part "He was kind about the (directions) oops and did his job well." Therefore we are perplexed by the one-star review. In looking over the report, there are photos of the 22 year old AC unit, showing an infrared thermometer measuring the supply and return temperatures and the comment "Inadequate Cooling." Perhaps you left prior to him letting the system run sufficiently in the vacant house to get proper readings. I also see in the report four photos of locations where the gas was tested using detection device, so we are not sure what happened with the gas. Regarding the issue of removing paneling to look behind the wall, I suspect he did not say "it was not his job to remove any paneling" but rather our insurance policy prevents us from removing finished materials. Finally, the comment "they keep bugging me to do so (write a review). We actually send two emails after the inspection, one at seven days and one at 30 days, then no more emails are sent, so the term "keep bugging me" is a bit misleading and exaggerated.

Not only was his report very comprehensive, but he took the time to walk us through the home and lot, pointing out items as we went, explaining the severity as well as making suggestions for repairs and addressing all of our questions.

Adam Goldner was the most professional inspector my husband and I have ever had. He was extremely thorough and explained every single solitary detail to us. He took extra time to even speak with us on the phone for any concerns/questions we had. I would HIGHLY recommend Adam. He truly is the best at his job and he goes over and beyond in excellence. Nothing goes undiscovered on Adam's watch!

Emily inspected 2 homes for me during my search. Thanks to her great work, I avoided a really bad investment and ended up finding a great place. After her thorough inspection, she not only provided a detailed explanation of the issues she found, but she also provided recommendations for how to resolve the issues. She was very engaging throughout the process and took the time to show and explain things to me, so that I can communicate the issues well with professionals I may hire in the future to resolve them. I also really love the Porch Home Assistant add-on, which they offer to clients.

Roland and his team could not have done a better job. They were very thorough during the process and took the time to explain what they were doing. Roland also spent over an hour on a Friday night going back through the report to make sure we knew what to highlight to the sellers. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work and follow-up.

I'm so glad I had my new home inspected before closing. My new range was defective, siding needed repaired, closet door needed trimed down, some shingles needed repaired, and a few other small repairs were needed. Great job on seeing the things that needed to be addressed. I would highly recommend having your home inspected by building knowledge before buying.
