On two occasions, we've worked with Dr. Sherrill from BIA for psychological educational testing. With each test, our experience was very good - Dr. Sherrill is thorough with her evaluation, questioning and summary of the results. One of the things we liked about working with her is the network of resources she has on speed dial. From follow-up help from other clinicians or groups, Dr. Sherrill has an extensive array of connections for follow-up needs. While it's true the testing is expensive (unless it's covered through a public school, I can confirm it is everywhere), we found that insurers will likely cover a significant portion of the testing provided you seek pre-authorization in advance. Unfortunately, this is not something insurers clearly spell out, however, I have found them to be rational about the lack of pre-authorization and they gave us options on submitting a retro review. It can be frustrating because handling it through insurance by yourself is not as simple as a visit to the regular doctor's office, but it's manageable. That's the price tag of going out of network to competent professionals who know what they're doing. For us, it was a good use of our time and money. But since my bar for a 5 start rating is high, I'd rate our experience a 4.5.

Dr. Sherrill was a nice person but she really didn't seem to have any clue or insight into our daughter's problems. After months and months of weekly (and expensive) visits she couldn't give us any direction as to what to do to help with my child's depression. I don't know if she didn't care or just couldn't figure it out. We went to her for 14 months and finally changed psychologists.....thank goodness we did b/c our new therapist immediately recognized that our daughter had some subtle learning problems and we got her the appropriate help and now she is a happy and confidant child. We went to Dr. Sherrill for almost 14 months so I feel like she was given plenty of time to figure it out.....I guess she just couldn't figure it out or maybe didn't care enough.....glad she is in our rear-view mirror!

Dr. Caroline Sherrill has a Ph.D. in early childhood issues. She has specialized in this area and her skill at helping diagnose and assist children with their issues is amazing. She has a full diagnostic battery of tests that she uses to isolate and identify issues in each child, and very much approaches each child as unique. She's unusually available for a therapist, and provides excellent feedback in working with the parents. She is highly recommended.
