We used Charco to build our house from ground up on a vacant piece of dirt. While this is a rare occurance in San Diego, Charco handled it with ease and made the entire process as smooth as possible, including with the City. There were no delays beyond inclement weather and they were always accessible via email and phone if I needed a little hand holding or wanted to make some changes. The pricing was awesome and little things here and there that needed some attention (bound to happen with any construction project), even over a year later, have been serviced and corrected promptly by Charco. We liked them so much we used them to build our guest house and will use them soon to build an addition. All of our neighbors complimented the work they did and the way they conducted themselves on site. I would recommend them to anyone!

Charco owner's son-in-law -the salesman for the company- will shake your hand, look you in the eye, say "It's no problem" and then provide the kind of terrible experience that horror movies are made of. My experience with Charco was fraught with problems from beginning to end. My neighbors hate them for the mess they made and how long they kept the construction site as a dirty eyesore. Although Charco implies that they have a large group of workers, they actually subcontracted with low bidders. Some of these threatened to put liens on my property. Charco can only do one kind of construction: Their way. Regardless of their claims (just WHO write their website reviews?), they were not able to design, research or provide anything other than the cheapest possible quality or they used materials that they chose. Any creative idea seemed to baffle them. The project took EIGHT TIMES longer than promised, and they finally abandoned the project because they simply could not do the job. Charco would stop work for weeks and just let the house sit with holes in the walls and no roof, even when it was raining. I had to pay another company to finish the work and fix the errors that Charco made: Bad electrical, water leaks, design flaws, etc. If Charco was the only construction company in town, I'd suggest that you buy a different house before resorting to employing this bunch of clowns.

We didn't realize how good Charco was until we used another contractor in town (San Diego Kitchen and Bath). Charco is not the cheapest in town but definetly the best. We will never use anyone else again. Anyone who has used them and then uses another contractor figures this out quickly. The owner (Chuck Swimmer) goes above and beyond to make sure that the client is beyond satisfied. The employee moral and attitude is second to none. Everyone wants to make you happy. If you use them ask for Pat as your foreman. He is INCREDIBLE! We used San Diego Kitchen and Bath on our last project because their bid was 4% less for the total project, however the overall result was 400% less as was our satisfaction level. We would recommend Charco to anyone. Simply put, they are second to none!

We had a terrible experience w/ Charco, who we hired to do an addition on our home. We chose them, even though their bid was higher, because we felt we wouldn't have to babysit them along the way. Unfortunately, we were wrong. We found their "will this do?" and "that's not my job" attitude went all the way to the top when we contacted the owner out of complete frustration and desperation. He blew me off with a smug remark about our project being relatively small (and, therefore, I guess, not being worthy of all their best efforts). There were constant miscommunications between the sales rep, the architect, and the job manager, leaving us caught in the middle. We found that measuring was not their strong point leading to complications in virtually every aspect of the project. This led to work having to be re-done, serious delays and budget changes. Often they didn't show up when they said they would or return phone calls. Also, at the end of most days we had to pick up cigarette butts left behind by their subs, even after we were told there would be no smoking on the job. We knew a re-model wouldn't be easy, but we had no idea a large company would treat us and our project so poorly.

i had alot of bids and yes, some were cheaper , but you know what - the owner made sure that i was happy. Chuck (owner) saw some things going in the wrong direction: he quickly jumped in and always made sure that i was happy. I can honestly say * I WAS EXTREMELY HAPPY **
