New to the area and went here based on a recommendation from a friend and good reviews I read online. I chose a stylist based on a review ( James ). He called my name. Never introduced himself, never smiled, didn't say anything. He asked me when I was seated what he could do for me. Told him what I wanted. He said absolutely nothing and began cutting my hair and did not say one word the entire time. When he was finished he asked if that would work,I said yes. He asked if I wanted a shampoo,I said no. He asked if I wanted product in my hair, initially I said no then I changed my mind because I have always had a stylist do it automatically. He asked if I wanted to do it myself and I just said yes. He took me to the front and said thanks for coming and walked off. I received a decent haircut, not great, but not bad. That was my experience. I still tipped this stylist anyway, only because he did cut my hair. Even when I was checking out I noticed a stylist giving her customer her card when she was finished and said to come see her again, my stylist didn't even do that. I called the salon to share my experience and they said I could try another stylist with more personality. That is not the point. All I expect is common courtesy and professionalism which means say hello to your client, introduce yourself, especially a first time client. Make the customer feel at least halfway glad they stepped into your place of business. Just unbelievable to me. Not a way to do business.

I've been going to Crimpers for about three years now, and have loved the service I get from the front desk to my excellent stylist James. I would recommend anyone looking for a new place to get a great haircut to give Crimpers a try. Ask for James.

I am originally from atlanta, but have lived up in NYC for the past 4 years, and i recently moved back down. I used to have my hair cut by the shop owner, but he wasn't in so they scheduled me with another stylist there who did a great job with my hair and has taken care of me a few times since then. Everyone at Crimpers seems really positive and the atmosphere is very comfortable. There are a lot more women in the salon now, stylist and customers, but still packed with cute gay guys! I love to listen to the salon conversation and just be a part of the obvious team work and camaraderie of the stylist and customers there. The salon's appearance has also changed a lot since I left four years ago (for the better- I love what theyve done with the place). From the art work to the architecture, the image has really improved. And the best part is the haircuts are still $18. YOU CANT BEAT THAT with a stick- especially for the quality of work you get. If you ask me where to get a great cut that won't break your budget, I'll send you right down to Crimpers. Love them!

We took my son for a haircut and were stunned by the terrible service. Everyone was very rude from the time we got there (it's not clear why, except that we got there right as they opened and no one seemed ready to start working), and when my son started to cry because the stylist was taking a really long time to finish (despite doing nothing beyond a very basic haircut), the receptionist came back and said that if he didn't stop crying, we'd have to leave. We won't be going back.

Crimpers has always been the best place to go for a cheap but wonderful haircut. Now they've added new services and more super-talented stylists. What I love about Crimpers is they really get to know me and what I want. Plus, it's still a great place to meet people!

oh my gosh i went into crimpers to get my hair cut and colored and wow did i get more than i was expecting. not only was the atmosphere really warm and inviting but oh my gosh they hooked me up with a really cool chick name heather, she was really kind and friendly and i felt completely comfortable the min i sat down in her chair. not only did she take the time to make sure that she understood what i wanted, she went into detail to explain to me exactly how she would complete each step. after about an hour and half she handed me her mirror and wow.... i couldnt believe how great that i looked...i have never had anyone hook me up the way that she did....i felt so good when i left crimpers that day and i will definitley not only be going back to crimpers but i will also send all of my friends and make sure that they ask for heather.....

I went to crimpers for the first time about five weeks ago. I'm used to paying about seventy bucks for a haircut, my thirty dollar cut was way better than any seventy dollar cut I've ever gotten! Heather cut my hair, she was awesome! When I went in I was in a not so good mood, talking to her definetley put me in a better one. Did I mention how good my hair looks? I've been back since, for thirty dollars I don't feel bad about getting my hair cut more often!

I was immediately struck by the friendly, laid-back atmosphere of Crimpers. The owner(s) did a good job of making the salon inviting and not pretentious. I arrived early and was taken early. Heather was my stylist and she did an amazing job. She was professional and competent and really had a great vibe. She knew what she was doing and totally worked with me to come to a solution to fix my hair without costing me an insane amount. My appointment was at the end of the day but there was no rushing or hurrying to get me in and out, my stylist took the time she needed to get my hair color looking awesome. She really took pride in doing her job well - and it shows. The price is about average, but the friendly environment and awesome service are off the charts! I will absolutely go to Crimpers again and will certainly ask for Heather.

Good points: they now have an online appointment system; a good haircut at a reasonable Midtown price; cute gay men hanging out in the waiting area; competent stylists. Negative points: parking can be horrible (small lot); one stylist consistently has attitude; appointments usually run way late.

That Crimpers jacked thier prices over night,When your getting the same hair cut from the same stylist's? Its like they put people in ranking orders. It makes no sense! I've been going here for years, Ive seen alot of changes.I've noticed that there is always differant people working there? And whoever is running the place was barking orders to the person who was cutting my hair.It made me never want to go in there again. When you get you're hair done you want to feel relaxed and able to trust your hair dresser! And go to the same stylist!! It seems like they need to get permission to cut hair a certian way ?I just want to go get a color and a cut from a trusting professional.Your company needs to change it's ways. You lost me and i have been going there for years!Whoever owns this place needs to re group and learn how to run a business. A client who will never return or recomend Crimpers!

First impression is "great clips" meets midtown. The big difference is that you leave Crimpers looking great every time. No matter who you see, they give a great haircut. It's even worth the wait on busy days.
