I had two new pairs of shoes that needed some work to get them to fit exactly right. They were expensive shoes. I described what I wanted done and he assured me that he could/would do it. When I went back to pick up my shoes, I was completely horrified!! He ruined my shoes!! He scratched the silver metallic leather and then tried to fix it with some gray paint that didn't match. He painted the leather...ridiculous!!! He had removed the sole in some areas and the way he put it back together was so sloppy, it was ridiculous. For the other pair, he did some stitching and used a completely different color thread than was original on the shoe. It didn't match!! And he was so proud of his work and thought that he did a good job. He was bragging to me about how good they were as I stood and stared, too shocked to even speak. I explained that he ruined my shoes. He offered to fix them. But as I pressed him about how he would fix them, I truly felt that he would only make them worse. I asked him if he was going to pay to replace the shoes and he said he would not, even if he made them worse. If I had left my shoes there, it would have gotten worse. This man knows nothing about good shoes and good quality work. As soon as he scratched metallic leather (and the size of a dime, not just a little scratch), he should have offered to replace the shoes. And he wouldn't acknowledge how bad the work was!!!! He thought he had done a good job!!!! I think that's the worst part!!!!
