This facility has too little space for what it attempts to do. They say it is about community, but like a recent reviewer said it is good for kids and over 70, but doesn't provide for the rest of us. The Body Pump classes are great if you can get in (class size) is too small. The audio is always busted and the cardio room is too small. If you want to get a serious workout and not have to worry about whether you can find a parking space go somewhere else because the staff doesn't like to work too hard.

Pros: Has "free" daycare. Has Body pump class. Usually has towels Cons: Packed with kids during summers and weekends. Hours are very irregular and closed often seemingly for the conveniece of the atFf If the weather keeps kids from school, don't expect the Y to be open. Other clubs seem to find a way to open. Pricey. After re-shopping rates I was very surprised at how much less other gyms are. Over all it is a decent place if you want a family membership with kid friendly activities. If that is not the case you can most likely find a better value somewhere else.

Great gym-has everything you need to get a good workout. The cardio area is pretty small, so you have to be flexible. There is often a wait for the machines, but no more than 5-10 minutes.

I love this place because it is one of the few places that offer BodyPump classes, but the cramped room with bikes and treadmills always stinks of sweat. Gross, but I can almost ignore it because there is a tv with cable on each and every machine. Watch what you want and breathe through your mouth.

If you are uncomfortable at most health clubs, then you may find what you need at the Y. The Decatur-Dekalb Y has top-notch facilities, warm towels, and a large selection of fitness and water classes.

just about any YMCA location will give you great classes for everyone in your family but this location is only two blocks from me and I can walk there. they keep the facility clean and the staff is very nice.

If you want a place to work out without the glitz and sales pressure and image, the YMCA is a great place to go. There are 5x more classes offered at this location than the local LA Fitness. The equipment is well-maintained and the FitLinxx / Wellness Coaching is a great addition. It's not as 'pretty' as some of the other clubs, but that's not why I'm there.

This location has a Friday night out service that is GREAT! You drop off the kids around 7 PM and they play with other kids (surpervised by the Y staff) until 9! Greast night out!

This YMCA has a lot to offer all family members. I especially like their after-school program at my son's elementary school. They take the children from the end of the school day, and can be picked up until 6:30pm. Very convenient for longer work hours, and rush hour traffic jams.
