The best care at a resonable price. The two doctors are awsome, and always take time to talk. The techs and front desk staff are always friendly, know our pets name - lean over the desk and talk to our pets. No big turnover of employees. One tech has been there 30 years, another probably 29 years, etc. This has been my vet office since 1987 and I've referred many people who are also as satisfied as I am.

The vets and staff at El Cerrito, La Mesa are incredible. Even when they are rushed, they take time for you and your pet. I know there are two negative reviews, but there are always one or two who disagree. Perhaps they went to another El Cerrito Vet--not in La Mesa. Ignore them. Dr. Valerie and Dr. Massey are exceptional professionals as are their staff. I will always take my six cats to see them!!

After MUCH thoughtful consideration I came to the conclusion that my 18 yr old cat was no longer enjoying life, so I called to make an appt to have the cat peacefully put to sleep. They refused to put him to sleep because they had not seen them for some time. Money?? He's been a healthy cat for all these years, but due to age and dementia he meows loudly 24/7. I don't understand why a so called loving environment would not assist in a peaceful, humane act. I know they can do it...they just didn't want to???? I will never, ever recommend this vet to any of my friends or family.

I was late 15 minutes for my appointment and asked if that would be a problem. They said no, will see if we can fit you in and the person from the front desk wrote down what was wrong with my dog. After about 20 minutes she came for my dog and she would NOT let me go with my dog inside. I refused to do that and she told me that I will have to reschedule. Weird practise to me if you think about it. I made appointment with other veterinary. P.S. First time in my life I was late and it was such a big deal for them, like I ever get to see a doctor on time of my appointment.

Moving back to San Diego after 12 years, I really missed my fantastic vet. My neighbor reffered me to Dr. Valerie, she's even more terrific than my previous vet. The whole office understands people's relationships to their pets and/or ‘surrogate fuzzy children'. They are very caring, efficient and follow through with phone calls, updates and excellent medical care! I had to put a kitty down last year, Dr. Valerie was very understanding and made the experience non-traumatic for all of us. Luckily Dr. Valerie is close to my home, but I would drive to her office, she's worth the distance for excellent, reasonably priced service.

I have been taking our pets to Dr. Valerie & Dr. Massey for several years. They have been so caring with our dogs & cats. Once I had to have one of my dogs checked when it was at night and raining. At the itme I was taking care of my elderly mother. They were nice enough to meet my husband at the clinc. They ended up having to put our dog down. They were so supportive; I just can't say enough good things about them.

I love El Cerrito! I have been taking my pets here for 15 years and will never go anywhere else. They truly care about my pets and their prices are more than reasonable.

Just moved here and I needed to have my very old and sick cat put down. They wouldn't see me because I hadn't taken him there before. I told them that my regular vet was 500 miles away and I would gladly have them do a consultation and examination. They still refused and suggested dropping him off at a shelter where they would ask no questions and put him down. I can't believe that they would tell people that. I will never take any pet I own to this vet.

The entire staff is very personable and empathetic. When you bring in a new pet, the entire staff is excited; when the 'worst' happens, everyone is likewise affected. I've never felt pressured to use any treatment, but have always been given choices.

One of my students recommended El Cerrito to me after I had a bad experience elsewhere. I have been so impressed that I would not consider taking my dogs and cats anywhere else. Both vets are so caring. They and their staff are extremely patient and care so much for their clients and owners--procedures are always well explained. They have even called to check up on the progress of my little guys when they have been sick. Highly recommend them to anyone who cares about their pets.

In all my years of owning pets, my experience with El Cerrito has only been positive. I have been clients at two other local vets, but they don't come close. Both vets at El Cerrito are well above average and it's clear they care about their clients and pet family members. They will accomodate your busy schedule, explain everything in depth, and there are also free tennis balls for the taking when you leave.

I have 2 dogs. One is a rhodesian ridgeback with hip dysplacia. I have been taking him here for the past 4 years. Rufus is always in good hands and is always given the best care. I have taken my dogs to other vet clinics, but I have found El Cerrito to be the best.
