The vision of Encinitas Karate is to build a community by helping people get in shape, be safe and at the same time instill the life skills and character of a true martial artist. Upholding important values like courtesy, patience, respect, self- control and integrity.
I would be very careful in taking a 3 year old here. Though the sign out front reads "3 yrs and up", this guy has zero business working with kids. After a year, I STILL cannot pass this place without seeing red and shuddering. He treated my son like the frigging army. It was supposed to be fun, so the sign said. He made my kid cry by ordering him around and putting him in time out (yeah, within 10 minutes of knowing a 3 year old, he puts him in time out; you think he knows anything about preschoolers?). As a child development expert, I'm telling you now that you have to gain a kids trust through play and fun before you can expect to order him around like a robot. My kid was treated so badly that he even had to leave mid session. Did we get a call from anybody? NO! He didn't even call to say, "Happens a lot, please bring him again. I can't wait to work with him." Never heard from him again. He didn't care. I'm telling you to keep your kids away from this guy. He has no business working with them. He isn't warm or compassionate in any way. More that anything though, he isn't fair or patient, two things that you need to work with 3 year olds.
