My name is Christine Byrd. I am a Certified Massage Therapist ( C.M.T.), regulated by the Virginia Department of Nursing. My business, Essential Body Therapies, is located in beautiful Floyd County Virginia, near the Blue Ridge Parkway. After many years of owning an aromatherapy/ herbal body care business, and a background in wellness and nutrition, I decided to take my love of bodywork to the professional level. I graduated in 2010 from the 700 hour professional massage therapy.. program at The Cayce Reilly School of Massotherapy in Virginia Beach, Virginia and the 220 hour certification program in Reflexology. I have been working professionally with aromatherapy for close to 20 years. The modalities that I offer are Swedish Massage (traditional relaxation and stress relief), Deep Tissue Massage, Cayce Reilly (trade marked), Massage, Neuromuscular, and Reflexology. Also offered are Castor Oil packs, basic Hydrotherapy, Thermal Stones, Organic Clay Toning Massage Facials, and a very unique combination of Essential Oil Therapy, Massage and Reflexology combined. I am nationally certified by The NCBTMB (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) are a member in good standing with the AMTA ( American Massage Therapy Association) and continue each year to increase my knowledge of massage, anatomy and physiology and health through continuing education and personal research.
I believe that Massage Therapies are extremely effective at relieving chronic stress and pain, caused by muscular tension, injuries and illness, personal and job stress, poor body mechanics, exhaustion, and other stressors. Massage can help re-balance muscular imbalances, lower blood pressure, increase circulation and help the client relax in a way they might not have experienced before. My clients often report that they float in a space of complete relaxation and trust. All therapies are offered in a professional, relaxing, quite environment. Every attention to detail, from heated tables, water fountains, soothing music, a personal bath and shower, to pleasing colors and aromas has been considered. Clients can combine their chosen therapies into a personalized session. My sister business, The Botanical Apothecary, makes all the lotions, oils and balms, used in my sessions, and are sold through local outlets and my studio at, Northside Plaza on Rt. 8 near Citizens telephone, when we are open with clients.
If you are ever in my area of Southwest Virginia, I would be honored to offer you my services.
