Kudzu gets the Short Version Summary: 11:25 am: Greeted by a stylist talking around food in her mouth. Ignored a gut feeling that this was a Bad Idea. 11:30 am: Charged a credit card fifteen dollars for a dry trim of "about two inches" which the client was asked to stand up for. The stylist was unable to determine how to handle long, straight hair, so the client had to brush her own hair. None of the much-touted service was present in the slightest. Snippy, apathetic, nightmarish. I do not slam businesses over errors that are out of their control. Unfortunately, the acceptance and employment of an individual who shows less than even a smidgen of interest in work ethic or her job is something that is fully within the business's control. As such, the business itself is responsible for this atrocity. While the individual experience at Fantastic Sam's may vary and be excellent at times, the Russian Roulette-style chance of such a nightmare as this makes the establishment only appropriate for thrill-seekers who don't care about their appearance.

I found her...the maestro of razor haircuts in the Broomfield-Westminster corridor is at - can you believe it? - Fantastic Sam's! Her name is Mary Lou and she is a funny little Filipina from California who has been working at this very shop for the past two years. I wish I would have known sooner. After the pricey, botched job done to my hair by Tanya Owens at Salon Odyssey, I figured I would never find a stylist who was proficient at razor cuts. Then, on a whim, I thought I would just go get a trim at the closest Fantastic Sam's. Mary Lou first evened-up everything, and then she got creative and brought out her razor. However, rather than remove huge chunks of volume (as Tanya Owens did) she used her razor skills to CREATE beautiful layers to make my wispy-fine blonde hair look full and thick. It's been three-weeks now and my cut is still full of volume; I can style it with just a tiny bit of product and only a three-minute blow dry, and it is just a darn cute cut.
