I recently engaged Dorothy and Larry Fowles to conduct an estate sale to liquidate my mother's home. They damaged the house, the bathroom and kitchen sink were left in filthy condition, and they even left the droppings from the dog that they brought with them every day. The Fowles have not provided me with any documentation about what was sold or for how much, documentation they assured me would be provided at the end of the sale. During the first three days prior to the sale, I watched Larry Fowles handwrite a very detailed, numbered inventory of the items in the house. He continued to inventory and price items for the next two weeks. They confirmed they possessed this list during a cell phone conversation at the end of the sale. They have provided no printed accountability for my percentage of the receipts. This leads me to question the truth of the amount they paid to me. I agreed not to be in attendance during the weekend sale dates. They threatened to quit when I tried to visit my property between sale weekends. At the conclusion of the sale, I asked to meet to discuss the result, but they refused. In any business, a good reputation is necessary for continued business opportunities. I believe honesty, integrity and professionalism are paramount to succeeding in any business, especially the estate sales/tag business. In my opinion, Larry and Dorothy Fowles lack these qualities.
