The title for this review is latin for "Let the buyer beware." First, let me say that Tom is a craftsman, and you don't find very many guys like him around anymore. Second, let me say that my wife and I did NOT know what we were getting into when we decided to get a new pad for our futon instead of replacing it with a sofa. We were told when we bought our futon (75x53) that it was a Queen size. We were misinformed. So we end up going to Tom and giving him our measurements for a new pad. And somehow, the lines of communication got crossed and Tom made our pad ten inches short. I don't know whose fault it was, so I'll take the blame. Anyhow, we took the short pad back to him and he told us that he would try to re-build it, making it longer, and we were charged, naturally. It took quite a while to get done. And Tom later admitted that he actually built a new pad from scratch for us. We got it home and, truth be told, it is wonderful. So why would I give Tom an "average" on service? Because Tom's an old fashioned guy. No computer's here. Every receipt is written by hand. And somehow he ended up charging us $100 extra for our new pad. I just found this error...two weeks after we picked up our pad. So if you go to Tom for a new pad, measure carefully, communicate fully, and double check everything and you won't be disappointed.

Review for The Futon Favorite It was time. The foam mattress was at its end. What to do? Something affordable. Something not made of foam (no matter how fancy). Futons came to mind. Google provided various providers including amazon, multilocation bed stores, etc. The pictures look good, the reviews were not. The Futon Favorite was the next link on the search page. Wow! This is what I was looking for. Tom Flower made the futons himself. He looked like an honest happy chap and it would give me an opportunity to support a local mom and pop business. It was well worth the hour drive from East Mesa to Phoenix. His store is lovely, has all the various styles to try out. It was a busy day at the store, giving us time to try out different blends of cotton and foam fill, look at the variety of folding and flat frames and the variety of covers, pillows, etc . I decided on all cotton batting and a simple platform. This fit my budget perfectly. We were there on a Thursday and delivery was set for the following Monday. Wayne, the delivery and set up fellow was right on time and put the frame together in about 45 minutes and Voila! I had a new bed. The futon is very comfortable, fits in the space perfectly. Finally a good nights sleep! I am really pleased and delighted with my interaction with Tom and highly recommend his store, The Futon Favorite. His prices are fair, the futon is excellent quality and he a fine, honest person to work with.
