Worst vet place I ever been to. Went in the evening. They took my cat right into the back soon after arriving. I thought I go with it, but they say I stay here. While doing forms a fast food delivery comes for Sara Metcalf, front desk and she's be loudly complaining with the person for what seemed like 10 minutes, really loud too in front of every 1 there. The vet finally comes out,my wife tells vet Justine Murray its symptoms. No pooping or peeing. The vet says there is a blockage. What will it cost I ask. $3000 and cat stays here 3 days. I tell vet I cant afford it, can I pay now and take my cat home. Vet leaves me and wife in closed door room, comes back minutes later and says she spoke to the bosses over the phone and we could put the price at $2000 and go up from there. I tell vet I cant afford this, I want my cat and I'll pay the bill now. I'm not disputing there prices, I just could not afford it. Vet leaves room again, minutes later comes back, we can set you up with payments, I tell her I have no money for this, can I have my cat, I will pay now. The vet is starring and talking to my wife, my wife is all upset. I tell vet I am not approving any of this. Vet leaves us again comes back says for $540 I can try to unblock cat but no guarantee. I again say no I want my cat, I want to pay now. And you now should be taking money off my bill because your holding my cat against my will. Vets leaves us again in cl

I took three dogs to them. None of them had extremely serious conditions, though one was over 12 years old and I thought it was better to put the dog down. They said it wasn;t necessary and made me feel guilty about doing so. They said the dog could be treated, as they said with the other 2 dogs I took there. Long story short, 2 dogs were supposedly treated and "fine" and died within a week. The other dog, who was also "fine" and ready to be picked up was dead when I got there. I am now $ 28,000 in the hole and have three dead dogs. No explanation was ever given by them as to what happened, They just rushed me out.

Dr. Gibson was not interested in helping my dog. She made me get expensive blood work, which my vet later said was probably not necessary and took urine from my dog, but never performed a urinalysis. She said there was nothing wrong neurologically and to go to the ophthalmologist, but she still wanted to give my dog an MRI, spinal tap, and brain surgery, if needed. I'm very disappointed and would never recommend the neurologist, Dr. Gibson. She had no sympathy, no compassion, and still has not called to follow up.

Dr.'s Watson and Sanchez are two great surgeons.they took great care of my dogs busted knee with pins and seeing it break was at the growth plate it was a large concern that something would be wrong with the growth of his leg and here we are 3 months after surgery and the leg is great! The dr.'s and the staff went above and beyond trying to comfort me and my husband during all this trauma. My dog we are talking about was only 5 months old and is a ridgeback which was the big concern about the growth plate as these dogs get Huge and so there was and is still a lot of growing that leg needs to do. As of today 4-16-13 his leg is doing great. I highly recommend. Anyone that complains about the price doesn't love their pets or is financially unable to have a pet. Pets are like kids they are going to need medical services and they are never cheap so don't ever complain this place is expensive because you get what you pay for and I happily paid $5,000.00 for my dogs surgery as it was worth that and twice as much to me! Thank you guys so much! Kenny Garzzillo and Mchumba

Emergency care is expensive; I get that. But I've never seen a place so focused on the bottom line as GSVS. They give you an estimate, then push beyond it so fast your head will spin. Watch every phone call - ANYTHING they mention is taken as permission from you to treat, and they don't ever give the price unless you ask specifically. And proof your bill; we were double-charged hundreds of dollars until we caught it, and then there was no apology. Front desk staff is COLD, and if you question them they turn officious FAST. If you go, bring a credit card or two with high limits; you'll need them. I'm asking my vet to stop recommending them; there just has to be a better option.

If you want to spend a lot more money than you need to and if you enjoy dealing with unfriendly people at the reception desk then you found the right spot. Very poor customer service though the doctor I saw was very professional.

Garden State was referred to us by our veterinary. There were more questions on the patient forms about payment than about the health of our dog. When we decided to get a second opinion, because we couldnt afford the procedure they wanted to perform immediately, they wouldnt give us the information we needed to take him to another doctor that same day. We needed to request it in writing and then it would take at least 24 hours to obtain the information that we spent thousands of dollars for on an MRI that was done, reviewed and used for the diagnosis just a couple hours ago. All of a sudden it seemed his condition to them was not as important anymore. Its was like going into a store and buying something and having the merchant say you can pick it up after you fill out a request form and wait at least 24 hours. Unheard of! He is now at Northstar Vets. And although the diagnosis is still the same, he is now in the hands of people who are more interested in helping him than helping themselves to our bank account. Northstar Vets also prepared us better on what to expect after surgery and the complications that can occur. Front desk personnel at Garden State were extremely rude and argumentative. Do you really need to deal with this when your pet is in dire need of medical attention??? Please please please, take a little time and research all veterinary specialists in your area before leaving your pet here.

Stay away from this place especially Dr. Lackner the opthalmologist. Besides being unprofessional she's also inconsiderate and uncompassionate. I'd rather go to rbvh than go to this money hungry place.

Our dog was being treated for prostate cancer at GSVS at the recommendation of our family vet. Shortly after his second treatment we noticed that he was suddenly straining to urinate. We repeatedly expressed our concerns about this to both Oncologists (Cohen and Kazmierski) and were told by both, repeatedly, that as long as he was making some urine then there was no problem. After he started becoming lethargic and anorexic I was concerned and brought him to our local emergency vet, thinking he was getting dehydrated. It turns out that he was not, in fact, urinating enough and his kidneys were in danger of becoming damaged. He had to be admitted, catheterized and dosed with antibiotics. I wish I had known that this emergency vet also had an oncology department, with a far more involved and compassionate vet. Needless to say we transferred care and are considering dropping our family vet for steering us toward this place. Yes, canine prostate cancer has a bleak prognosis but that doesn't mean you have to treat the pet like he's disposable.

This veterinary hospital has gotten too big for it's own good and conveys an insensitive assembly line approach to treating your pets during an obviously difficult time in both you and your pets life. They simply just exploit peoples love for their pet's by backing you into a corner of unnecessary and expensive tests. They offer no quality of life orientation that might outline what your pet may have to go through and what their chances of survival are. Protect yourself and more importantly your pets from a place like this because they will eat you up and spit you out. They are flooded with inexperienced interns who desperately try and act like they know what they are talking about. In addition they have arrogant doctors on staff that abuse their position in the community. They have all lost their way !
