@DForster When this customer called, I clearly stated that I no longer performed road service at his location, but in an attempt to help a stranded person, I made an exception and told him I would get there as soon as possible. I arrived and diagnosed the problem and explained the part would cost approximately $100 if I ordered it and told him I could get it locally but at a higher cost. I went to a local dealership to pick one up and they didn't have his exact replacement. They carried a higher end product and because the customer stated he was in a bind and couldn't wait I purchased the part on his behalf. When I returned to the customers camp site he refused the part because of the cost. Normal cost for a service call to his location was 75.00 with a one hour labor minimum. I cut him a break and only charged him 160. and had to return the part. Had the customer been willing to order the part I could have gotten the part for him for 95.oo and no shipping. This is an unfair review because the customer placed unreasonable expectations upon me and my company. Mitch Bellard, Good Shepherd RV

Needed a replacement Transfer Switch for our 5th wheel. Called Mitch from G.S. & explained my diagnosis & wanted him to confirm & help replace part. Gave Mitch the part# and he said he would collect some tools and be right over. He arrived 1.5 hours later, took a look at the Transfer Switch and confirmed my diagnosis. Did not have a replacement with him so had to go & get one. Verbally discussed what cost would be for part (approx. $80-100). One hour later Mitch returned with part and said it costed $330. Internet search shows $330 was much higher than others, so I said I did not want to proceed with the repair and asked how much for his time, he said "$160". Felt this was quite high, but did not complain and paid the bill. In retrospect, I should have argued the point. He had spent probably 1.5 hours in transit but if he had brought a switch with him, or had called his supplier to confirm the price was as expected before he left our campsite, or called us when he found out it was much higher than expected, he would have saved an hour of his time. As it was, I paid $160 to wait for 1.5 hrs for someone to spend 5 minutes looking at the switch to confirm my diagnosis was correct. In the end, I ordered a switch online which is a direct replacement. I paid $95 for it plus $13 shipping.
