The Hoover Dam is a remarkable structure. Take a walking tour and you'll be treated to an informative history of the dam's construction and its energy-producing capabilities. Its a great tourist stop and definitely worth your time!

If you're looking for a truly historic and awe-inspiring tribute to human engineering, take your family on a short, 30-minute drive to Hoover Dam. The tour is a brief but informative look at how the dam got built, how it works and some of the political power functioned to get this monumental structure conceived and created. The sheer size of the project is mind-boggling, and even more so considering it was completed in the 1930's. It gives you a feel for the "we can do anything" atmosphere that the country had back then. The tour begins with a somewhat dated but interesting film about the history of the dam. You then take an elevator down to the generator room. From there, it's self-guided. Even for kids, it would be a fun trip, since you get a chance to walk through dark, cool underground walkways and peer off the steep drops on the downside of the dam. With the construction of another engineering marvel, the highway by passing the dam. You can't go wrong with this tour.
