I went here a few weeks ago on the advice of a friend. Stacy was having a great April special that included a free cut with color. Immediately I loved the look and feel of the salon. Very vintage yet edgy. Upon meeting Stacy and observing how attentive and knowledgeable she was when I explained my request I just knew I had the right girl for the job. It took some time as I was lifting from a level 5 brunette do to blond, but my full highlights were amazing. It looked so natural . When it came to the cut, I kid you not she was like an artist. She knew exactly what I wanted, with a little extra oomph. I have to say in all the years I have had my hair done, I have never walked out of a salon 100% happy until that day. I have received so many compliments and to be honest I don't think I will be going anywhere else. I highly recommend.

So you would think with a name like Hair Drezzers on Fire, the place would be gay friendly right? If not completely gay? LOL No it is not. I started to go there about a year ago when I moved to San Diego and was pleased with the haircuts from Sarah Vaughn. Today, I was in a pinch and needed a haircut, I made an appointment online with JT Gordon who is one of the few stylists there that also cuts men's hair. I got a call about 2 hours before my appointment by the salon manager saying that Sarah had shared information about me to JT, and he did not feel comfortable cutting my hair. What??? Was it the fact that I was a young gay doctor who thought he was cute? Is that a reason to refuse to cut someones hair? The manager said she could book me sometime next week with Sarah, but honestly after being refused a "haircut" for being "gay" or who knows what else, I decided to never go back there and spread the word about the these people. The other reason this place deserved 1 star is the haughty attitude with ikea design. They are in the middle or Normal Heights and had a place slapped together like a college dorm. If you are going to be paying $55 dollars for a haircut, at least make the place nice. Am I bitter? Yes, have never been really felt discrimination in San Diego until I went there. Funny with a name like "Hair Dressers on Fire" you would think Normal Heights Pride was based out of there.

Victoria is awesome with hair color and highlights! I went to go get all over red highlights and maybe later to get it all red. She did my hair exactly like how I pictured it! No other stylists could do what she did; she spent her time on my hair and finished a good quality of work... I get stopped everywhere I go... they say they love my hair where do you go? I go to hair dressers on fire baby!!! to see victoria!!!!! Thanks victoria!!!

I am not an easy client. I don't make it easy for Sarah by coming in with a picture of my perfect haircut. Instead, I give vague suggestions as to what I don't like and Sarah just seems to read my mind! Always!! I just got my haircut today and have gotten so many compliments on it. A lady even asked me where I got my haircut. Of course I told her Sarah @ HDOF. And, I don't just receive compliments about my hair the day of my cut but all the time because it grows out so well! Thanks Sarah!

I've been going to Sarah for more than 4 years and she never ceases impress! I even asked Sarah to do my hair for my wedding last year and it was more beautiful than I could have imagined. I'm sure I was the typical bridezilla on the trial run. But Sarah was right on point the day of. I think Sarah does such a good job because she is able to anticipate what you want with little to no direction. She also stays current with all the latest trends. Lastly, I really appreciate that Sarah does a great job, not just for her own benefit, but also for the community she lives in (i.e. haircuts for disadvantaged youth). Thank you Sarah!

I agree with Perpetual. Sarah has been cutting my hair for what's going on 5 years and always to impress - believe me, I hear it from people all the time. I've never missed an appointment, because I'm scared to :-). I see Sarah once a month, and I'm the type that doesn't want to look like "did you just get a haircut?" I consider my standards to be the highest, and if you do too, then check the place out. I almost don't want to let out the secret, but I still do all of the time. Thanks Sarah!

I must disagree with aqua's unconstructive review. Sarah gave me a great haircut on my last visit. No matter the length, she always cuts it the way I want. And the bigger "plus" is that it grows beautifully. Even after going without a cut for months, people always ask if I just came from the salon! I trust Sarah completely and am confident in her abilities. This salon always exceeds my personal and professional expectations. Thank you!

After reading all the high reviews on this site about hair drezzers, I made an appt with 'Sarah' to get my hair cut thinking I would not be disappointed. BOY WAS I WRONG! Not only did I receive THE WORST hair cut in my 30 yrs of living, everything I told Sarah NOT to do, she did. I specifically told her I did not want bangs yet she insisted on cutting them just to say 'you'll get use to it'. A statement like that just shows that she's completely inconsiderate to her customers wants. For a stylist who's supposedly been in the business since 1998, she sure doesn't know how to listen to her clients. I highly recommend that you don't go with a stylist like Sarah because she'll only do what she wants to do, and not pay attention to the needs of her customers.

Sandi has been my colorist for several years now. She has an instinct for placing color and the chemical knowledge to blend colors that look natural, only better! My hair looks the best it has ever looked. She advocates healthy hair and suggest products and practices to keep it that way. I think Sandi is the best and I highly recommend her services, and the salon itself is always dependable, efficient and friendly.

I came here after reading many positive reviews. The stylist, who has since left, was very confident that she could work with greying hair. My base color is blonde and I rarely color it, so I told her it was all in her hands. She kept asking me how to do the hair but I didn't know. She correctly chose to NOT color my whole head, as I'll re-touch very infrequently. Instead, she gave me highlights. IT took a few days of NO positive comments to realize it made me look grey all over. It was so bad that when I visited my family on the east coast, they took me straight to their colorist who redid the hair with LOW LIGHTS. I'd never heard of this but DANG I look good. NOW! Drezzers, for me, was a waste of money.

After much research I decided to go to HDOF and I was not disappointed. Quinn is amazing. She listened to what I wanted and then created it, which goes a long way in my book. The salon itself is relaxed and fun without any pretentiousness.
