722 Grand Ave, (@ Mission Blvd)San Diego, CA 92109

High Tide Cafe opened its doors in December 2001, replacing the popular Firehouse Beach Cafe. The new owner, Ronn Tompot, is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. Ronn moved to San Diego in January 2001, with the goal of eventually opening up his own establishment, having worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years prior. The plan was to capitalize on the incredible location of the Firehouse, yet completely remodel the exterior and interior of the restaurant, create a new menu, and hire new.. management, including a professional head chef. This was accomplished prior to February 2001. High Tide Cafe boasts a large open-air patio with a fantastic ocean view, as it is located about 50 yards from the beach. Several popular food and drink items from the days of Firehouse were retained, such as fish tacos and the Bloody Mary Bar which is offered on weekends and holidays (see Specials for details). The selection of beers, wines, and liquors in the restaurant's bars was also greatly expanded. On Sundays during the NFL season, High Tide transforms into the San Diego Dawg Pound, where local and visiting Cleveland Browns fans can watch NFL action.
