Do NOT eat here. We were charged TWICE for our meal. The waiter had miscalculated the first bill, then brought us a corrected one. For some reason, we were charged both amounts. When I called the restaurant to straighten out the problem, both the owner and the person who keeps the books were rude and said that it was OUR fault for using a debit card! They refused to rectify the situation, saying it was MY problem, and that it was up to me to deal with the bank. Neither the owner nor the bookkeeper let me get a word in edgewise. The bookkeeper had the wrong information, but insisted she was correct because the transaction was "right in front of her face." Her amounts were INCORRECT-but she wouldn't let me explain. What kind of a place is this? I have read other complaints about bad treatment at this restaurant, and now I believe it. I don't think other customers should go there and receive this kind of treatment. What a shame!

Went to Italian Grotto for lunch. Waiter didn't suggest lunch menu. Never-the-less, we pressed for lunch menu. Average entrees $8-10 ($5 extra for soup or salad). Waiter mentioned daily specials...we ordered one....was great....bill arrived...special was $28. Waiter could have mentioned that up front. Still great food, but ask questions.

This is a great spot to become a regular. This was the first restaurant we went to when visiting Scottsdale and we like the owner - classic New Yorker. He tells it like it is to those who are a pain and it is great to watch! He also takes great care of the people who are good customers and has bought my table drinks on more than one occassion.
