This place has the best salsa in the world, very hot! Wait for a booth in the back room, order the "Carnitas", pick your choice of ice cold Mexican cerviza, and dig into the chips with cheese dip.

I and my spouse was just there for dinner Tuesday evening. There was a 10 minute wait as we arrived and waited outside. During the wait and upon being seated to a patronage of Whites whom seemed to stare at us as if we didn't belong. Before you think I was being paranoid, it was confirmed by my spouse as well. At first glance it appeared a jovial setting with people eating and dinning in very normal casual setting . . . in walks a Black male and Asian female, casually clad as well. Then the constant staring reminded us of were we where, it seems that the more things have changed in this country - a lot has remained the same. It was a completely weird vibe; unfortunately for us it seems as if the elitist, separatist attitude of resentment was still prevalent even in their kids that stared as well. It appeared that there was some form of entitlement in the air - one that the Whites had and We didn't, as if this is "their place, their area." To bad for this restaurant as the food was not bad, though the owners I assumed or the ethnic looking (female hostess) seemed rather disengaged but merely concerned with her seating availability as long as we eat fast and leave. We are left to wonder that as minorities we are welcomed if only we joined the Hispanics and Latinas servicing the place.

Pretty good Mexican food. Can get crowded. I was very pleased with my service. I felt that the prices were fine. The food was good. My group was well taken care off. I will come back.

I thought its food was decent as a kid growing up in Atlanta, but having spent some time outside of Georgia, I now have some perspective and the understanding that this iconic restaurant is mediocre at best.

OK so I went to this restaurant for the first time based on the overall review here. It was horrible... seriously THE WORST mexican food I have ever had. How can you screw up Mexican? I think I will have to call and ask them. A chili relleno is not the same thing as the green pepper casserole they serve there under the name "Chili Relleno". I always found that to be the test of a good mexican restaurant. Lots of places have them but few know how to make them well. It came as a scoop of goo on my plate... no chili to be found but there was a piece of green pepper amidst the goo of ground beef and cheese. Seriously! I asked my friend what that was on my plate as I had never seen anything like it...I thought they had made a mistake! Note: I can warm tortilla chips in my own oven at home. The service can be summed up with the statement that refills did not come unless requested...enough said. I was surprised to find this place was busy each of the past two times we had contemplated going. I have had real mexican and this was not it but on my worst day of an attempt in my own kitchen, I would have come up with a better example than this. Go to the old Sala... which is now tapas (ugh) but regardless has excellent service and food or one of the other more highly rated places... obviously 5 on this scale was a typo... it should have been 50th best perhaps... because this couldn't be accurate. Atlantans don't know good pizza either but that is for another review :(

I went on a Saturday afternnoon. It was busy, but the service was excellent. We were seated immediately and chips and salsa was brought to the table quickly. I had mexican rice, a chicken taco, and guacamole dip. Everything was tasty and very filling. The guacomole dip is excellent! I've been craving it ever since I had it.

This is an example of how you sometimes find the best food in a little "hole in the wall" environment. Really tasty, authentic Mexican fare, sparse cafe-like atmosphere and completely reasonable prices. Also, great for call-in/take-out.

The smallish cantina (located in a strip mall) has pretty good tex-mex for the price. Most main dishes come in south of $12 and the service is quite prompt. YOU WILL LEAVE FULL. One thing though, try to go on a weekday or be prepard to stand outside in the cold. The Friday and Saturday night wait runs about 30 minutes to an hour as the "with kids" crowd turns the place upside down.

Great place for the lunch crowd and even better at night for the college crowd. Inexpensive and filling mexican fare with plety o parking at Peachtree Battle Shopping Center.
