Was privileged to have had him as my primary care giver at Kaiser for a couple years. Always listened; responded quickly (and correctly). Did not overkill procedures or medications. Fellow who was non-plussed by his refusal to do the lower endoscopy was probably 1. Not aware of WHY one is needed; was unaware of possible negative results or didn't care. A little research on medicines and procedures pushed today and one will find Dr. Read 'Right On'.

During a visit to Dr. Read, I tried to ask him a question and he said "Please don't interrupt me. You're paying for you to listen to me, not me to listen to you." So basically, shut up. Filed a complaint against him and changed doctors the same day.

I have been going to Dr. Read since I was in my teens (I'm in my mumbly-thirties now) and have always been happy with my experiences with the doctor himself. He is good at quelling anxiety and doesn't practice "over-medication." His staff, however, has never been my cup of tea. They have, consistently, been a little shy of friendly and could do with some bedside (or desk-side) training. However, this seems to be a recurring problem with many doctors' offices, not just Dr. Read. Overall, I give Dr. Read a high rating, and hope he can find some nicer folks for his front desk.

I started seeing Dr. Read when I first moved to Atlana. I chose him because after going down my list of preferred providers, he was the only one that could see me the next day. He has ALWAYS been incredibly accessible. I do have to agree that he does come off a little rude, but i don't have to see him that often so I get over it. He also seems to not want to deal with any issues other than allergies or flu, and makes referrals to specialists for everything else.

I have to agree that Dr. Read is condescending and somewhat pompous. He was my doctor for a couple of years and things went from marginal to bad. The last straw was when he refused to refer me for a colonoscopy even though one of my parents died from colon cancer. When I saw a different primary care physician, that doctor immediately sent me for the test.

I'm surprised to read any negative reviews about Dr. Read because I have been going to him for several years (I'm now in my mid-30s) and he has been great. It's a small office so they can always fit me in and I never have to worry about parking or waiting. Dr. Read takes plenty of time with me and listens carefully. He has a calm and caring bedside manner which I appreciate.

"What a horrible experience! Dr. Reed at this practice is so rude, unprofessional and condescending. I went in feeling really awful, and he took that opportunity to berate me about exercise. While I am normally fine with getting a doc's recommendations for exercise, his delivery was cold and sarcastic that I left in tears. The office staff was very nice and perhaps the other doctor is better - but I will NEVER see Dr. Reed again. He should retire his white coat!"
