Joe does a good job. He will make everything at first glance look good. Just don't expect the inside, backside or underside to be looking good. He is very expensive! The highest in the area. I expected more attention to the entire piece after his boasting about what he would do to restore my antique especially for the enormous price charged.

sean , do i know you ? have i done furniture for you ? what piece are you talking about ? i did notice that you have other bad reviews posted for furniture refinishers , are you in the refinish business or just a professional bad reviewer ? i would be glad to address your problem personally if it is true , i never let a customer go away unhappy , and certainly never overcharged, i am certain my prices are way below market..
I needed more than restoration. I asked Joe to convert a TV armoire into a different piece to use in my living room. He took the vision I had in my head and made it a reality. I have had the piece back now for some time and each time I pass by it, I stop to admire its beauty. You can really see how much Joe enjoys what he does through the beauty of his work.

We have been looking for some time to have someone restore an antique Dutch clock and a mid-century modern rocking chair. We are delighted to have found Joe Bailey, who not only is knowledgeable and skilled, but also really cares about his craft. He did a beautiful job restoring two of our treasured pieces.

Sound familiar? You have a beautiful piece of furniture, perhaps an old family heirloom or an antique and you've promised someone that you'll refinish it for them. You may even have the knowledge and equipment to do it. But then, life gets in the way. You're busy with work, the grass needs to be cut, the kids have a soccer game, the dog ate your homework. I'd promised my wife that I'd refinish her childhood chiffarobe. Life is busy and I never got to it. I searched Kudzu.com and found Joe Bailey. I emailed him some pictures of the chiffarobe, got a quote, dropped it off, and about 4 weeks later received our treasure back from him. His work is magnificent! It didn't look like a new piece of furniture. We didn't want that. It looked as if it had been perfectly taken care of for 40-50 years. All the defects had been repaired, but most importantly, he was able to preserve the age and character of the piece. We were so pleased with his work that we had him take a second piece back to his shop to be refinished. So even if you know how to refinish furniture (you probably don't), and you have the equipment you need (don't kid yourself), you're like me and just don't have the time. So call or email Joe. I simply can't recommend Joe Bailey more highly. He is truly a craftsman of the highest order.

We had a farmhouse dining room table that had seen years of use, many kids and too much sunshine. We asked Joe to change the finish and match some new chairs, changing the table from a very light pine to a mahogany. The results were fantastic! The color is perfect and the table looks better than ever. Wish we had taken our table to Joe years ago! Excellent job... we'll be back to see you again, Joe!

I've had a dining room table for a few years that needed leaves made a good sprucing up. I've looked for just the right person to take care of my table and Joe came highly reccomended. I am absolutely amazed by the work he did. He built two leaves that look like they were original to the piece and he refinished it perfectly. It takes my breath away every time I walk by it. I have several pieces that I plan on turning over to the capable hands of Joe Bailey. Thank you so much!

Joe did a wonderful job for us redoing a dining room table, washstand, bench and shelf (all antiques). The table needed extra special TLC and Joe did a superb, detailed job on every tiny piece! He is great and much better price than another estimate we got.

Joe restored my grandmother's Danish postmodern dining room set to better than new condition. He also helped us select the perfect finish for the best combination of durability and appearance. These pieces have been back from Joe's shop for several weeks now... and we've fallen in love with them all over again. We're thrilled! Thanks Joe!!!

Joe has restored three mahogany pieces for me and each one looks beautiful, better, in fact, than my memory of them in their prime. The first was a server that my mother had purchased in 1941.She kept it in its original condition until 1975 when she retired to Florida. Then she had it painted antique white, to better match her new sunny environment. I've had the server for about fifteen years now and last May I called Joe Bailey about restoring the wood. He came out to look at the piece, gave me an estimate on the work, and two months later brought back the server looking like a real treasure. The rich wood grain shows beautifully. I was so pleased that I asked him to restore two small, hand-carved tables that my grandfather, who was a cabinet-maker, made in the 1920's. Like the server, they look lovely. Very fine work at reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Where is Joe because my wood is not looking good?! He refinished my table top in November of last year for $500. He was nice enough and delivered on time but after a few months we had a problem with white spots showing up on the table after guests left their ice tea glasses there. The finish was suppose to keep this very thing from happening. After leaving numerous voicemail messages and sending emails (with pictures of the damage), I've gotten no response from Joe. I'll now have to pay someone else to come in and take a look because after 5 months of follow up on this, I'm as worn out as my table looks.

After reading reviews on Kudzu I decided to take an antique barrister bookcase to Joe to be repaired. It was in bad shape and required a lot of work. Joe searched 3 months for a piece of glass and door knob to fit the bottom panel and found pieces from the same era and manufacturer. I have several other pieces I'm going to take to him given the high quality of his work.

The chewed up china cabinet in Joe's online photos belonged to my great-grandmother, and I was heartbroken when my dog chewed it in a storm. After Joe's great repairs, it is beautiful, and in better shape than it had ever been during my lifetime. Since then, Joe has repaired or improved many other items, including changing the color of a cedar chest and repairing extensive water damage to a dining table. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.
