I just contacted this company based on the stellar reviews on this site and spoke with a woman. I did not get her name, unfortunately. I inquired about the cost to replace four exterior wall mounts, which is a very simple job. She said onsite technician quotes price. I confirmed they are able to complete work same day if it falls within their four hour service window of 8 AM -12 NOON or 12-4 PM. This sounded logical, though I wondered why she could not give me a ball park based on the information I gave her--again installing four exterior wall mount lights. She then told me their "call-out" fee is $69. I asked whether fee is credited toward cost and she said no. I am a reasonable person, and I can accept the notion of charging a service fee as an opportunity cost; however, if I reach agreement on price with a company, I do not expect to be charged a service fee. It should be built into price; that's good will and sound business practice. Obviously, this is not a review about the company's work since I did not get that far, but I think it's bizarre a fee is charged and not applied to a job. I don't think I've come across this before, and I deal with contractors all the time.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to hear that you have a problem with our business model. We are upfront about our service/call-out/evaluation fee and don't hide it in our pricing like some companies do. There is probably nothing wrong with that, but when we provide a price we do not like to pad it with a hidden service fee. Like you mentioned we have stellar reviews and speak for itself, our Customers are happy with our service and pricing.
Thank you for the fact that you considered us. Hope we can be of service to you in the future.
Jan Rossouw (Kalahari Electrical Services)
I live in Buckhead and was experiencing a home-wide electrical problem - I had flickering power, and literally did not have enough current to run my TV or coffee maker. I called Kalahari in the morning and they promptly sent out an experienced electrician that afternoon. Turned out the electrician was the owner (Jan) - and he did a terrific job. He quickly diagnosed the problem and implemented a solution (involving actually pulling out the outside power meter and clearing the contact points.) Highly recommend!

From start to finish, Kalahari Electrical Services distinguished themselves by their professionalism and punctuality. I was especially impressed with Jan who was very informative and personable. He quickly identified electrical issues with my home and was able to resolve them promptly. He also installed a new stove top for my kitchen which looks great and functions perfectly. It was a pleasure dealing with these Jan from Kalahari and I highly recommend them. They are my official go to electrical service company!

I called Kalahari based on reviews, and I am thrilled! The tech came out on time, called prior to coming, and even stayed late to finish the job the same day. He replaced a fan module that a previous electrician could not repair (which saved my $400 fan), and he corrected faulty wiring that caused my bathroom power to blow out. Highly recommended! Excellent job with a friendly disposition and solid work ethic!

I reached out to Kalahari after reading other reviews on Kudzu. Jan, the owner, personally answered the phone and we set up an appointment for a couple of days later. He and his assistant Houston arrived exactly on time. They fixed a couple of electrical outlets and some wiring that our General Contractor hadn't exactly done to code when we renovated our kitchen. They also fixed a bathroom fan/light that wasn't properly working (and he showed me how to repair if it happens again) and replaced a faulty switch on a heavy piece of artwork. They were polite and efficient and cleaned up everything before leaving. I will definitely use Jan again!

We received a bad inspection report for our panel when we were trying to sell our home. Kalahari came in and went over the report. We looked over and signed a moderately priced quote. Then they set off to do the work to tidy up the panel a bit and swap out breakers. Once into it they decide they would rewire the whole thing. They did not charge extra and were still in and out fast. We have used several other companies but will not ever again.

Jan was great. I had been waiting on our contractor to have his electricians come out and fix our problematic fan and outdoor floodlights. I got really mad after waiting for a few weeks and went to Angie's list to find a good electrician. Fortunately, Kalahari was at the top of the list. He came out the same day, gave me a quick estimate, and got to work. He found poor work that my contractor had done, and fixed it. I'm very pleased with the work that was done, and the professionalism Jan demonstrated.

I've used Kalahari's services on multiple occasions and I would and have recommend them to others. Jan (pronounced Yawn) was prompt on every occasion and his prices are competitive. This site requests you suggest a price range, but obviously the cost is determined by the services provided. His entire team is responsive, reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable and respectful. I just don't know what else you would want. Any electrical needs that I have in my home, I will contact them for first.

Kalahari charged me $475.00 for replacing one breaker. I just want to get opinions from other people if the price is fair.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review.I am disappointed to see only 3 stars because that mean substandard service quality and value.Joe our technician co rdinated with you and Georgia Power to meet at the same time.Georgia Power determined before Joe arrived on site that the main breaker had to be replaced.Joe provided an upfront price on replacing the MAIN BREAKER supplying power to your residence and you approved the repair.I believe your electrical system is operating as it should.I am sorry that we could not meet a price point that was acceptable to you.I do hope our 2 year no noncence warranty would help you see that we are here to help.I offered a $25 discount but I am really sorry that I can not meet your $150.00 price point.Jan Rossouw,Kalahari Electrical Services.
Kalahari replaced our entire circuit board and added outlets to our garage when we moved in 7 years ago. This work has stood the test of time. Today I had Kalahari out again to conceal wires for our entertainment system. Jan showed up on time as agreed and did a very thorough job. I was very satisfied.

These guys are professional, prompt and thorough. We had a bunch of chewed wires in the attic (squirrels) that need to be replaced. The job looked clean and perfect when they were done, and it was a significant improvement to the way it was originally done (sloppy wires everywhere). They responded and set an appointment within a couple of days, showed up on time, and got the job done fast. Highly recommended.

Kalahari Electrical Services are simply awesome. From the first phone call to the final finished job, everything was done on time, on budget, professionally and to perfection! I was given excellent advice by Jan and Joe, they provided the most up to the minute and technologically advanced fittings and installed everything I wanted on the same day. None of this leaving at 4 pm to beat the traffic and then disappearing for days leaving my home in a mess! I cannot speak highly enough of the Kalahari guys. Joe worked late, cleared up and left everything in pristine condition! In fact my friends were so impressed that one of them has had Joe do a job that someone else promised for weeks to do and never did it. Joe did the job, fixed the problem and installed the fittings in a couple of hours! As I said at the beginning they are awesome and I would highly recommend them if you want a truly professional honest job done.
