I offer individual counseling to adults needing help because of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, or Stress Management. I am very active with my clients by teaching more functional coping skills. This allows change to be a process and not an all or nothing experience. I give homework assignments of suggested readings and to put into practice the skills learned during a therapy session. As a Christian Counselor, I am respectful.. of the beliefs/faiths of my clients and where he or she is on his or her faith walk.
I have been 20+years of experience as a counselor. During these years I cultivated a specialty in helping clients with PTSD whether it is from childhood abuse, combat, assault, or domestic violence. I am trained as a Level II EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)since 1999. I have obtained extra training through the International Society for the Study of Trauma & Dissociation, so I can effectively work with clients who have Complex PTSD and a Dissociative Disorder. Because of my training I am methodical and go slowly so the client isn't overwhelmed. I often say to my clients that "slow can be fast", because my clients usually progress and get better.
If you have questions, I am available for a quick phone consultation. I can be reached at (901)210-0067 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
