I've been riding with Doe Rae for many years, and not only has her guidance helped develop me as a rider but it has also empowered me in other areas of my life. She teaches young girls that they can handle more than they think, and knowing that you can be the master of a 1500 lb animal makes other challenges in life seem doable and even small in a lot of cases. Not only is there a strong focus on developing students into well-rounded riders as well as strong individuals outside of the ring, but also a stronger focus on caring for and treating the horses with respect. Horses are never overworked or mistreated, and their health and safety is always put first.

I found Doe Rae to be difficult and argumentative.I have witnessed her fighting and screaming with farm owners, up to and including eviction. I have also experienced her being unkind and unfair to horses and people. It took my horse over over a year to recover from poor riding and ill fitting tack. Unrequested and unnecessary (drugging and shipping) services were charged to my account. I would NOT recommend Doe Rae Fensterman or Little Engine Farm to anyone.

When I decided to take riding lessons as an adult, I looked for an instructor who'd provide a fun learning experience while developing my confidence and riding ability. I found all of that and more in Doe Rae Fensterman, my riding instructor for the last 7 years. I have learned not only riding techniques but more importantly the riding mentality that has made me a more skilled rider. The group lessons challenge me to ride with a focused attitude that brings out the best in me and the horse. And they're fun because we share good times and laughs by encouraging each other and recognizing our successes. The Little Engine Farm community continues to give me a riding experience shared with other horse-loving friends plus the opportunity to learn from Doe Rae, an instructor who sees her students' riding potential and dedicates herself to helping them see it too.

I have been taking lessons at Little Engine Farm for more than 7 years and have enjoyed every year of my riding experience! I took up riding for recreational purposes and quickly realized that I had entered into a lifelong pursuit. Trainer and instructor, Doe Rae Fensterman, puts as much time and energy into making me a better rider as she does her students who show. She tailors lesson plans to both the current skill set and potential of her students, allowing them an opportunity to continually build upon their skill set. I am amazed at how well Doe Rae balances the art of technical instructing with a "horse whisperer"-like approach to understanding the interaction between rider and horse. Group lessons foster support among riders, making lessons fun and productive. There is a genuine sense of community at Little Engine Farm, which is clearly evident by the camaraderie and support shown between riders and their families. I can't imagine not being a part of the Little Engine Farm family!
