We brought our small puppy to LDL for 10 days while we went on vacation. When we dropped Sammy off, we noticed several big dogs swarming the gate as we arrived, my wife was a bit fearful about leaving our dog with such big dogs, but Kris assured us our puppy would be fine and that she did not keep aggressive dogs (her web site even states that) so we left Sammy in her care and the last thing she told us was do not worry, our puppy will have great fun here. We called several times to check on sammy before we left on the cruise, and was told she was having fun, some small dogs were there to play and all was good, we called again on the following Wednesday, before were due back in New Orleans, and got no answer but left a message. Once we docked in New Orleans on Thursday, we called to check on Sammy again and to inform we would be there Friday morning to pick her up. That is when the unimaginable was told. The previous Sunday, one of the dogs also being kept at LDL had attacked our puppy and killed her. We were informed that when Kris found the body it was still warm, so it had just happened no long before. That is all we know of the story, Kris explained she does not know how or what happened, nor which dog murdered her, all that we know is a place which was to be a safe, fun place to play for our Sammy turned into a nightmare because of an unidentified aggressive dog, that may or may not still be housed there, because no one knows which dog killed our Sammy.

Kris is wonderful! She is so upbeat and truly loves my girls and they love her! She is always doing little extra things (such as cutting nails or bathing them) and I couldn't have asked for a better daycare for my children!!!

My two dogs had been going to the Lucky Dog Lounge for over a year, and to be honest they really liked going...although I have to admit I was always leery of how close to Highway 41 the lounge was. A little over 4 weeks ago (April 9, 2009), my worst fears came true. My young lab somehow got out of the fence and was hit by a car. His pelvis was broken and required surgery to repair. I found out from the men that brought my dog into the emergency clinic he had been hit by a car. Yes, my lab is recovering, but he and my other dog will not be returning to Lucky Dog Lounge. This has been a horrible experience for both him and me!

I had to go out of town, and my husband works and my kids were all at school. so what am i supposed to do with my dog? My dog care place wasn't open on the day I needed it to be, so I was forced to go here. I called many places before coming to this one and I should have noticed something was off when they didn't need any medical records...but I wasn't thinking. I dropped off my dog only to be pummeled by LARGE, MASSIVE, UNRULY dogs. I literally had my dog run straight back to me, and that NEVER happens when theres a dog around, he's the first to say hi and play. Oh, and you're probably wondering why there are so many good reviews...it's because the owners of the large, unmanageable dogs come here to rough house and chew and that's why they're always so tired. I had my husband and kids pick my dog up, only to recieve a phone call from them when they were all crying. I do not have an emotional family..but the horror of that place just did it. My 15 year old daughter actually went to pet our dog and got knocked over by 2 large german shepard mixes. My dog, has never fully recovered form his stay at Lucky Dog Lounge. He now refuses to get in the car for fear he may be going to that terrible place again.

My name is Kris Rand, owner of the Lucky Dog Lounge. I feel I must respond to this review as I am completely mystified by the content. I do not know who the author of this review is as she has never contacted me with this complaint. This review is the first time I have ever heard of this and the incident described to my knowledge never occurred. The author mentioned that she had called "several other places" and may have mistakenly confused the Lucky Dog Lounge with another facility she had decided on. I have a strict policy for admission. Vaccination histories are required by all owners of the dogs that attend this facility. Dogs are not admitted unless they have the proper documentation. We regularly perform temperament tests to make sure that dogs are not only non-aggressive but will also be comfortable here. Often a new dog is overwhelmed at first so when he/she enters the facility we slowly introduce them to the pack one by one. We do not allow children to enter the premises. With regard to the comment of large, massive, unruly dogs... we have all sizes and breeds here that come to play and stay. In defense of all Doggy Daycares and Boarding Facilities I must say that dogs are dogs. They play & play hard at times. They chew, dig, bark, run, jump and after a long day of fun they are tired. In general, owners love the result! I invite the author of this review to contact me personally so that I may find out the details of this occurrence she has described. Please contact me at: 770-425-2364 or by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org . Thank you, Kris Rand
It is now 12/14/08 and I have not heard from the author of this review so I am making a second attempt to invite her to please contact me. Again, I have no idea who you are and would like to resolve this unfair and false accusation AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE to prevent futher misrepresention of my business reputation. Thank you.
The Lucky Dog Lounge is a WONDERFUL facility. They took great care of my dogs. My dogs are a little timid when it comes to new environments, but Kris immediately took them in as her own and made them feel right at home. Within minutes, they were running around playing with the other dogs. I have to say, I was quite impressed. They would normally be hiding in a corner, with their tails between their legs. I could tell Kris really cares about the animals that stay with her, and loves what she does. My dogs were so tired when they got home that they slept all day! Kris was very informative and sent me lots of pictures of my babies playing with the other dogs - which made me feel even more comfortable with having to be away for a few days. The other dogs are friendly and willing to play with anyone. I will definitely be referring my friends and co-workers to the Lucky Dog Lounge. It's Dog Heaven!!

I'll admit to being a little nervous about leaving our 13 year old, 20 lb dog in a house with all of those other dog who were all bigger than her - but everything worked out great! After a 10 day stay she was a little tired but showed none of the stress we are used to after leaving her at a boarding facility. She even jumped on a bed to wait patiently while I paid the bill instead of trying to pull me out the door like she normally does. We will definitely use Lucky Dog again because of Kris and our experience there.

I recently went on vacation and decided to leave my dog that I foster thru a rescue at the Lucky Dog Lounge. I was nervous to leave him somewhere new as he was a stray dog before rescue so sometimes he is a little timid or unsure of new places. But..he walked in liked he owned the place and made new friends right off the bat. After our trip he came home happy, clean and just worn out!! He apparently had a really great time and I cant wait to take him back for a doggie day. Kris is so friendly and helpful. You can tell she really cares about the dogs. She is genuine and pays attention to the dogs. The dogs are all happy and just having a great time playing around. I love the fact that some dogs are outside chasing tennis balls, some in the doggie pool and others are just passed out on the couches, its a fun home away from home and I will tell everyone about this place!

I have been taking Precious to the Lounge for several weeks. Precious knows when it's Wednesday - her day to go have fun. She gets so excited and does the Jack Russell Jack In The Box impression - she wants to play. As soon as we get there, I take her off her leash and she is gone! She runs and plays all day and just has a blast. She is so exhausted at the end of the day she just wants to lay down and sleep. Kris is the best - she really cares about the dogs and does her best to give every dog the attention that it needs and wants. She even clips Precious' nails. I highly recommend you give Kris the chance to make your dog as happy as mine!

I have used Lucky Dog Lounge twice. In both instances, it was because Pets Hotel was booked. My Cocker Spaniel Dakota seems to feel right at home with the other dogs and he LOVES the playground. Kris genuinely loves all of the dogs and her prices are better than Pets Hotel who charges an additional fee for "playtime". Lucky Dog Lounge is playtime whenever the dogs want it and he is total laid back when we get home. Love it!

I can't say enough good things about the Lucky Dog Lounge! I will be taking my dog, Sallie, there for the week-end and if I mention Kris' name too early, she will be totally downhearted if we don't hop right into the car! Not only does Sallie have the time of her life there, but I can really enjoy my time away, knowing she is safe, well cared for and having fun, too. Kris truly loves dogs and takes each one to heart. You can tell they love her as well, as they immediately migrate to her when she is introduced to them. I've been there several times when others arrive to pick up their dogs and am always amazed at the caring and detailed info she gives to everyone about their dogs' stay...right down to photos of them playing, or sleeping or doing something adorable! I also feel confident knowing that Kris carefully screens the other dogs that will be playing with my dog, insuring the safety of all. Thank you Kris, you are the best!!

I started bringing my two boxers, Scarlett and Clyde to Lucky Dog Lounge a few months ago and thought Kris was great. She was great with both of them and they would get very excited about going. Then this past Friday, Scarlett came home with a chuck of skin, the size of a quarter missing with another tooth puncture wound on the outer side of her leg. When I called Kris about this, she said she or Ashley did not notice any blood or anything wrong. That really concerns. Scarlett is a rescue and very petite and to know that she was attacked makes me sick to my stomach, not to mention the vet bills. Then Kris does not even call to check on Scarlett and when I called on Sunday to let her know they would not be returning she started to blame Clyde and said that he tried to bite someone..When did that happen? Because I call every day they are there to check on their behavior, etc. and was never told anything about this. When I met Kris for the first time, I stressed that I wanted someone who would treat my dogs like my husband and I do and that would never leave them alone, and obviously neither was done. I am very diappointed for this outcome and just hopes she figures out which dog did this to my Scarlett before it does it to someone else's dog and she begins to pay more attention to the dogs she does have there. Instead of apologizing for this happening, all she wanted to do was try and change the focus to Clyde doing something bad.

I was so impressed when Coco and I came to visit the Lounge; I knew this was the only place for us. On our first visit, Coco took to the other dogs and Kris like they had been friends for a long time. I am very comfortable with the experience and knowledge Kris has about her dogs and her passion for animals in general! While I was away, Kris sent pictures of Coco having the time of her life playing with her friends. One thing I didn't want to worry about was how much freedom Coco would have while I was out of town. The open house that Coco and the other dog played all day in has to be some kind of doggie heaven, which made me feel so great about the choice that I made. She was so tired from playing all week, she fell asleep on the ride home and snoozed all day and night!! Kris thank you for such a great home away from home! We will see you again soon!!!

My labradoodle, Smokey, just spent 12 days at the Lucky Dog Lounge. Kris is an extremely caring owner, who truly loves the dogs that stay with her. She is open to feedback and always looking to make the Lucky Dog Lounge the best possible environment for your dog to be in. Kris was also very kind when I would call every few days to check on Smokey. I will definitely use her service again, and recommend it to my friends.

I was so happy to find the Lucky Dog Lounge! My dog, a boxer named Holly, quickly acclimated herself to the pack of dogs there. I had fun watching her socialize with the other dogs and interact with the owner Kris. Kris and her staff have a genuine love for dogs and clearly enjoy what they do. They interact with the dogs and keep good watch over them to be sure the dog play stays friendly. I feel great knowing that Holly is getting such great supervision and socialization with other people and dogs. I couldn't imagine bringing her to another boarding facility where she would be confined to a small space. At the Lucky Dog Lounge, Holly plays about...inside the house and outside in the yard with the other dogs. The Lucky Dog Lounge is a great place to bring your dog for a day of fun or a longer-term stay....just don't be surprised if your dog doesn't want to leave!
