On Friday October 3, 2008 at 6pm, the employees of Mr. Transmission in Kannapolis NC were waiting to get their paychecks. The owner called the shop and over speakerphone closed the shop down. He told everyone he had not been making money and had no funds to pay them. The owner literally worked the employees all week, knowing he would not pay them on Friday. Since they were paid bi-weekly and had a weeks pay held upon hire, these employees are out 3 weeks of pay. They had to return the next day, Saturday, and retrieve their personal tools. Even customers are out of luck trying to reach the owner or management of the business. The only recourse the employees have is contacting the NC Labor Department.
