All I can say is stay away from Naegele & Mears, specifically Jay Naegele. He is the rudest CPA I've ever met and charged a very steep price for a pretty straightforward tax return. Just had your typical home business expenses since we worked from home on a part-time basis. When I first spoke to Jay I asked for an estimate and he said in the range of $400- $500, which I thought was already pretty high considering our situation. He emailed me a very antiquated "paper" organizer form that he asked me to fill out manually. Instead, I scanned all the tax related documents and emailed them electronically and summarized all the expenses in the first tab of couple of spreadsheets. At the end of the day, he charged me extra for sending the docs electronically and for the spreadsheets? What CPA does that these days? He called it "massive amounts of email material". They were all tax related documents. Not sure if he expected me to transfer all the numbers from an electronic documents to his organizer paper document? He also charged extra for each additional form and for what he calls time to go through your documents. His price doesn't even include reviewing the completed tax return with you. I was in shock when I got the final bill. Beware, he charges extra for everything; nothing is really included in the base price.
Naegele & Mears did a 2016 tax return, federal and state with Schedule B, employee business expenses.
