You're sick. You've had stomach pain, chronic diarrhea for months. You try to treat this yourself b/c you really don't want to be poked, proded & tested & you are scared. You're too young for this to be happening to you. You finally work up the courage to go to the doctor. This is me. I trusted my health & care to the hands of Dr. Virginia Critelli. First, she listened to my vitals & symptoms. An endoscopy & colonscopy were ordered right away. Here I was thinking, "she's on the ball. She's going to help me. I'm going to get answers & I won't have to be scared or in pain anymore." Right? Wrong. Tests went fine. I was told I would have biospy results the following week. Do you know how terrifying that is to here those words? "You will receive your biospy results next week." So patiently, I wait until the following Friday afternoon. No call. Panic sets in. Something must be wrong. I call the doctor's office. YOU CANNOT GET A PERSON ON THE PHONE. The best you can do is leave a message for the doctor's assistant. I worry through the weekend. Late Monday afternoon comes. I call again & once again, I talk to a machine. Surprisingly, I get a call back from the Dr's assistant stating she cannot tell me anything because my chart is on Dr. Critelli's desk. Days later & still no call. Days later and still my health lies with the voice on a machine.
