We have been coming to Paolo's regularly for years for amazing gelato. Unfortunately, tonight we had the most discouraging experience. We had previously purchased multiple gift cards and had several left over. They are sold only in $4 denominations. I bought 2 small cups tonight ($5 each), gave them 3 gift cards and was told they could not give change (not unusual) but would not even give store credit for the difference. The employee put me on the phone with Paolo himself that said if I didn't like it "I didn't need to come back his store." This response left me speechless. I know this is only over $2, but this is a scam to take money and not providing product or credit. For a store that depends on locals, I can not believe the owner's reponse. Needless to say, there is now plenty of competition in the neighborhood, and as Paolo suggested we will not be coming back.

I was craving gelato and went to check out this place. It was 4pm on a Tuesday and the store was closed. WTHeck?! So I tried again, twice more and both times it was closed at random times. They do NOT have hours posted, so how is a girl supposed to know when to get some gelato? I finally managed to catch them when they were open, only to find a long line, a stuffy shop, rude staff and mediocre Gelato. I'll pass.

I didn't think it was that great. Perhaps is because of my time in Italy but it wasn't worth it to me. Plus Paolo is really cheap as he only allows you to try one flavor of ice cream before buying. I honestly preferred "whats the scoop" but alas.
We love stopping by Paolo's on a hot summer afternoon or even a cool winter day. The staff is always freindly and if you are lucky enough you may even see paolo himself, what a character.
It's a little shop near Murphy's in the Highlands and the line is out the door on weekend night. The wait is worth it. They have a ton of interesting flavors and it is delicious. I like the Biscotti flavor Gelato. ENJOY! Its a great ending to a date in the Highlands.
